Ambrose Hotel Santa Monica - 圣莫尼卡

Pros: Good location in Santa Monica off Wilshire, there were a few sirens from the nearby hospitals but overall the neighborhood was on the quiet side.

The location is fabulous - quiet, but close to the excitement if that's what you're looking for.

We loved the location and walked to several of the fun Re-Dress shops nearby.

I arrived with a broken foot and was worried about how I'd get around until I was introduced to the London Taxi, which definitely reduced the distance between the hotel and the ocean!

The Taxi service is something you have to ask for, I wouldn't expect anyone to offer it without asking, and Jess (the cab driver) was really a nice guy (with a great singing voice he would let us enjoy while at work.

The rooms themselves were perfect (our first room was near some neighbours playing loud music), especially the bathroom: separate shower and tub, frette linens, water closet.

The room was immaculate, the bathroom looked new and the bed is one of the most comfortable we've ever had.

Bedrooms - Room 305 very spacious and American king bed amazingly comfortable.

We had a very comfortable room, with a king bed, lounger, desk, lots of storage, mini bar, free safe, television and DVD player.

The hotel itself is very handsome, and our room was spacious and beautiful, with a very comfortable bed and gorgeous bedding.

The quality of the food was excellent, though there is no separate dining room, so guests at breakfast were arranged awkwardly around the lounge area and terrace on sofas and benches, which is not an ideal way to eat breakfast.

I've never heard other patrons while staying there--it's been peaceful and quiet--and I've stayed there dozens of times The breakfast area ("living room") is more like a sitting room than a hotel restaurant.

The hotel does not have bellmen, parking valets, a restaurant or a bar.

Would benefit from a bar and a proper breakfast room, not enough seats or tables to make breakfast a comfortable experience.

Breakfast was delicious but there is limited room for eating since it is offered in the library/lounge area and if there are a lot of people eating at the same time, finding a seat may be a bit of a challenge.

The front desk service was terrific - knowledgeable, helpful, friendly staff always ready to help with advice, car rentals, etc.

Service was friendly and prompt (pretty amazing considering that there are frequently only two or three staff members manning everything from the front desk and phones to room deliveries to shuttling guests around in their London taxi!

Overall the location is quite nice and the complimentary underground parking is great as is the free shuttle service.

We had problems with the wireless connection -- even though we could "see" it on our computer, we couldn't connect to it and had to request a network cable to get a wired connection.

The rooms are tidy and clean, the free breakfast is simple.

I'm not a person who likes to complain, the hotel has a great look and the rooms are large, I would just think that for spending $185 a night they would do more to clean the hallways and keep everything smelling fresh and provide friendly service.
