This rustic, yet beautiful lodge is located in the middle of the world's oldest rainforest, 40 minutes away from the Great Barrier Reef. The cabins are on stilts in the trees, the spa is amazing, and the restaurant uses local and indigenous ingredients. There are a lot of bugs, however.

This family owned and excellent Thala Beach Lodge is a good representation of 5-star hotels in Port Douglas. The hotel was renovated in 2008.

          Just ten minutes away is the lovely town of port douglas, thala Beach Resort Totally Peaceful and the surroundings are beautiful and the staff very friendly. All in all a great place for a honeymoon and luxury amidst the rainforest, rooms are spacious. The food is superb.

          Rather than one of the big boats, we went on a small sailboat, the tallarook, the Beach itself was picture perfect and the rooms were beautifully appointed and spacious, the views were breathtaking. The setting, the accommodation, and the service were exceptional, staff were friendly and helpful at all times. Free internet computer use was handy and food at Thala was excellent.

          Private Beach and watched the exotic birds in the trees nearby. Position were magnificent, the food was exceptional in quality and the staff there were very helpful and friendly. The room was very good.

          Loved the pool and the hammocks on the Beach, the beautiful views, extraordinary place in an extraordinary setting. The best wedding reception venue and helpful staff. Fancy toiletries in the bathroom, the restaurant at Thala is exceptional and is well known to locals.

          The fantastic Beach, wonderful location and the restaurant is in the main lodge and the food quality and presentation was lovely. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and the rooms have everything you need and are clean and comfortable. The pools are great too.

          Wonderful views and beautifully appointed, private bungalows, tranquil setting. Very good service from staff, crystal clear water and gourmet all the way, from breakfast, lunch to dinner. Spa excellent.
