Taj Bengal Kolkata - 加尔各答

We always stay at the Oberoi when in Calcutta (great location), however booked at the Taj rather hesitantly as rooms were USD $200+ at the Oberoi during our visit dates.

The facilities here are outstanding, great gym, awesome restaurants and good location.

Good location, fantastic designs and all the staff were very courteous and polite.

The location is not as good as the Oberoi either, though that is debatable.

Its a short taxi ride from most places of interest, but pretty much nothing except the Zoo and National Library is within walking distance.

Stayed for 3 nights at the end of Sept, as I had a top floor room the check in was 'executive' and ultra smooth, the room had everything you could want, with all controls by the bed, well stocked and fair priced mini bar.

When I wanted a different room - with one bed rather than two - this was done while I sat in the room and drank fresh mango juice.

The rooms were of a high standard, very clean and little touches such as fresh flowers in the room every day.

It was fairly immaculate, clean bathroom, good room service.

My king bed, however, was just as requested -- firm mattress, foam pillows -- and housekeeping seemed to come at least three times daily.

The bar is great, the Indian food at Sonargaon restaurant is nice.

Restaurants: Sonargaon serves Indian food - try out the Bengali cuisine.

Rooms are spacious, the bar is pleasant and the newly opened Lebanese restaurant Soul is very nice.

The breakfast buffet was good with a large selection, but the best of all was the Indin restaurant at the lobby level.

Buffet breakfast in the Hub restaurant offers a wide selection of American, European, Chinese.

This hotel looks to be a pure business hotel but it proved to be a haven of warmth due to the superb staff and service they give.

I was amazed by the service provided by the staff very freindly and prompt.

The service is fantastic - friendliest bunch I have met in any hotel anywhere and the staff are unfailingly friendly.

The food was wonderful and we also indulged in spa treatments were also excellent.

Fantastic dinner by the poolside, one of the best italian eateries and great gym.

The only real negative point was the terrible lift music which was wonky and distorted (the same as the info channel on the tv).

The Wireless-Internet was blazing fast mostly.

Taj Bengal didn't stand upto Taj Udaipur standards, the staff is very friendly and the rooms are very spacious and clean.

My room is a perfectly comfortable size, spotlessly clean and well-maintained.

Great Decor, the service was consistently very good and room I was in could use a coat of fresh paint.
