Swissotel Le Plaza Basel - 巴塞尔

The location is convenient to the towncenter, several tramlines stop at the hotel.

Excellent staff and breakfast; nice clean rooms and the location was very good, too.

The location was also convenient, right across from a tram stop and within a block or two of shops, pharmacies, an ATM, etc.

The hotel is well situated, a short tram ride from the train station and about 15 minutes by cab from Basel Airport.

Although the hotel is not right in the Centre - it is about 5 stops on the tram - trams are very frequent and the Hotel gave us a free pass for use on trams and buses in the City and also for use on the bus from the City back to the airport.

We had the deluxe room mini bar (very expensive) expresso, gorgoeus bed so comfortable, fantastic bathroom, great hairdryer and all your shampoos inc.

The staff was very prompt and thorough with cleaning the room- perhaps too prompt, as once or twice they walked in when I was still in bed or getting dressed- but I learned to utilize the door sign for "privacy please" or "please make up room.

The bed was one of the more comfortable beds I've ever slept in, and while the pillows were too soft for my liking, they do offer several types, so I was able to call and have firmer ones sent up.

So anyway, the room itself was great - nice comfy beds and a good sized modern bathroom.

We had Dinner twice at the bistrostyle Restaurant Au Violon (french cuisine) which is reasonable priced and offers good quality.

The breakfast is quite bad - I have seen much better breakfasts in Holiday Inn Express hotels!

Eating out: I can highly recommend the Schuhmachernzunft Restaurant in the old town - we had a fabulous meal and the place itself is lovely and cosy, with wood panelling and well laid tables.

On a pris deux fois le dîner au restaurant Au Violon, une sorte de bistrot qui fait de la cuisine française pas top chère et de qualité.

Breakfast was great, good selection and pleasant dining room.

The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable regarding trips, tram and bus numbers nothing was too much trouble.

Easy access to the centre of Basel and the Staff is very kind and helpful.

Neither myself or my husband have a credit card and as they did not accept switch we had to give a cash deposit - reception originally asked for £200!

The pool area is nice and clean, didn't use the sauna or steam room though as I didn't fancy the no clothes rule - not that I am a prude but i would prefer to keep my bikini on thanks.
