I was able to see garden from my balcony. Within easy reach of baie des citrons. The downstairs bar onsite. 15 minutes' ride to the airport...

Good entertainment provided, nice food (buffet)
There was no room service for meals. We had to wait for dinner at 7pm.

The complex is "tired" and noisy. On site services are expensive, even compared with other local restaurants.

A lot of walking, catching buses. Wrong time of year to sit on the beach too much as it was either too windy or raining most of the time. However, it was relatively central to restaurants in the Anse Vata and Bai de Citroen. Also to buses into the city. Information centers where not that helpful for non-speaking French.
Lack of local knowledge from staff - or lack of desire to answer questions with apart from yes or no in the English language. Found out about the explorer bus on the last day due to the Manager having a conversation with my husband.

Le Surf was a good hotel if you didn't want to spend a fortune on accommodation. The restaurant was a bit on the expensive side. The pillows could do with an upgrade as they were uncomfortable. Hotel room was clean and the location was excellent to the beach and other restaurants.

The location and excellent ocean views. The staff were helpful and did their best to assist, with limited English, despite the fact that the hotel is undergoing a major refurbishment. When this is completed the hotel should be returned to its status as it was as a Novotel property. The flexibility regarding the booking was good.
We stayed at an unfortunate time as the hotel is being renovated therefore the place is operating as a work site and many facilities were working on a shoe string or in fact closed. The English language skills of the staff were lacking making communication difficult at times. Travellers need to understand that this is a French Colony and Cable tv etc is designed for a French Market. I will tick the recommended box but would suggest that travellers check the deals that are being offered and the status of the renovation at time of travel.

The hotel is in close proximity to the bus service to most sight seeing attractions. If you do not want to eat at the hotel restaurant, there is a very good choice of retaurants all within walking distance.
The hotel staff were outstanding with their helpfulness and their endeavours to answer all questions positively. What I was most impressed with was the fact that there were staff who could speak some english and they came forward as soon as they heard us say we spoke english. I highly recommend this hotel to other travellers.

Le Surf was once a great hotel. It is now run down & very badly needs maintenance

I liked the comfort of the room and I loved the colonial decor throughout esp in the foyer. I think the location across from Fun Beach great and walkable to other bays and town.
I think clients were too spread out in the hotel. We were 1 of only about 3 occupancies on our floor. The corridors were a little gloomy and faintly damp smelling. I think the breakfast cost was ridiculously expensive and so we didn't eat there.

The hotel is not well maintained: elevator dirty with missing parts, room with old, smelly carpet, noisy at night, no indication on how to reach the front desk, no clock in the room, if you don't have a watch, no way of knowing the time ... Bathroom old, dirty, missing tiles, toilet not working properly ....

First of all,the location. Restaurant la coupole is one of the best in town and the snack inside the casino offers a good " plat du jour" (a different main course every day) at a very reasonable price.the staff is smiling, friendly if not efficient at 100%. big rooms, plenty of space for clothes etc..
Sleeping late ar night, did not like the noise starting at 8.30 am as they are redoing some rooms.

Great location; we stayed here for new year and it was a great. Whilst it was a buy day / night, the staff were friendly. We also got a car space which ended up being great as the town was incredibly busy at night.
Bath tub in bathroom was a little run down but nothing to write home about. Balcony was small and our see view, well, you could see glimpses of it.
