  When we checked in, the staff had a bit of an attitude. We went to our room and were dissappointed. So, while my husband went to go try to get us a new room, I sat looking on the window at the busy street below. As I sat, my view was rudely interrupted by a cockroach on the window! Needless to say, we had our room changed. Overall, the hotel wasn't that bad but the staff was rude and the room was far overpriced.

  Several emails, phone calls from locals, contact with a "manager" (Mr. When leaving India, I ran into a fellow at the airport that had never been to Pune, made his reservation 2 weeks ahead of time, and did get a room at Sun n Sand so I am certain that "they just do not care and know they can get away with whatever they want".

  This was also evident with other customers at the front desk checkout.

  I had a standard room which was very pleasant &serviced to a high standard daily. The hotel has several restaurants which were all very good, although the menus can get a bit repetitive if you are staying for a while. There is an excellent Italian vegetarian restaurant (la Pizzeria) near to the hotel & the seafood restaurant opposite (Krishna) was also recommended, but not tried. The bar is also comfortable & has a singer on Friday & Saturday nights - he is not to be missed! The hotel staff were excellent - made a real effort to ensure that you had everything you needed & were all very friendly. The gym & spa were well equipped & there is a salon in the hotel if you need it. There is a modern shopping mall (Central) appx 5 minutes walk away, which was very useful & there is a shop within the hotel lobby which sells stuff like toiletries, power adaptors & travel guides, all seemed a bit cheaper than UK prices.

  The only bad thing I'd say about the hotel is that the internet prices were fairly steep, especially if you are staying a while - aroud Rs800 a day (around £10).

  However, upon arrival, the hotel has the appearance of a 5-star hotel with the fancy entrance and lobby/atrium. I booked a standard non-smoking room and it was good except for the odd chemical smell, which I am guessing is a mosquito repellent. The restaurant, Carrots and Celery, serves great food with a wide variety of cuisine (Western, Asian, Indian). I would recommend this hotel to anyone not willing to pay the high price for Le Meridien.

  Pleasant and well appointed, clean rooms, good service and good food. They have a lounge in Pune airport where you can relax until they collect your luggage and then take you tothe hotel. While hotel prices are generally always going up, Sun'n Sands is still a somewhat more affordable alternative to the 5-stars in Pune and perfectly fine.

  I've stayed in better but it was adequate and the bed was comfortable. I didn't eat in the hotel so I can't comment on the quality in the restaurants but they all looked very good. Quite happy to be asked the question but when after replying no the receptionist said she would just phone housekeeping to get them to confirm this I was totally appaled.

  The lobby is beautiful and ornate but very welcoming at the same time. I was asked the normal question of 'did you use the mini bar last night?

  As probably everywhere in India the service all over was excellent and the staff really supports you with any issue! In the morning you can hear though the sound of the "cab dispatcher" and this could potentially impact your sleep pattern. The cab organization is anyway special since the hallway is very small and the cabs have to wait and need to be called when required. After all a excellent hotel - especially the nicely dressed female staff will make your day anyway!

  The main restaurant was pretty good as well. The spa and workout gym was really nice with great equipment.

  The hotel gets bad marks for charging $100/week for internet access and for being so daggone expensive. They also played musak so horribly loud, I ask the ladies at the front desk if they were being punished for something. There's definite room for some competition for hotels in Pune.

  Stayed here for around 1 week in a delux room - quite big, all the standard toys and very comfortable. Service was very good - bit over the top sometimes, but concierge/car services were ace. Good location, central (around 20 minutes from Pune airport), MG Road (shopping, restaurants) 10 mins in a tuk-tuk - 40 rupees, Laxmi road (very cheap shopping but skanky) 20 mins - 80 rupees. In-house bar very good, wide drinks and cigar selection. Kebab-Hut in the baseline is very good - splendid menu try the lady finger, as is the Chinese restaurant. Try the 1000Oaks on East Street (just off MG Road) is a great pub/bar - outside bit cool, and inside oakey/plush seats with Euro/American music. Good business hotel, good location, great service.

  It has an open lobby with the elevators exposed (in the Hyatt Regency style. In the lobby are some reasonable shops for souvenirs, a couple of restaurants and a bar. Breakfast is usually included in your rate here. The rooms have flat screen TVs and modern art. Two of us were in separate rooms and had the same complaint – a shower that did not stay at a constant temperature. The staff was not overly solicitous but did a perfectly adequate job. Because of the booming software and other technology industries in Pune, business style hotel rooms are very tight. So book as far ahead as you can to get a room.
