In a convenient location close to the centre, hotel is very nicely decorated and the staff is very helpful and polite.
It's pretty cheap for Grenoble, and it's good location (15 mins walk from station / town centre) is for me its best quality.
We spent one night in Grenoble after a skiing holiday in the alps and we had previously booked online to stay the Splendid Hotel based on its price and location in the town.
The Splendid is 10 mins walk from Place de Grenette and the surrounding old quarter, and also a similar distance from the station.
The hotel is about a 20 -25 minute walk to the train station.
The first week I had a room with double bed and bath but no shower.
Everything from the room size, bed, bathroom ( which had a fabulous shower- jets coming at you from all sides) and a quiet location.
This was our own fault as I actually noticed the clock in the reception area was an hour fast before going to bed.
The bed had been pulled to the middle of the floor away from a large damp patch on the wall behind it where the paint & plaster were peeling off the walls onto the floor.
In fact it was not even a proper bed, but an uncomfortable camp-style bed.
Buffet breakfast in the morning for 6 Euros (£4) was again basic, but nice including an assortment of cakes and croissants, cereals, yoghurt's and hot drinks.
Stupidly we woke up to the sound of our own alarms, to find out at breakfast that the clocks had moved forward an hour due to summer time coming into effect, and this meant we had missed our transfer bus.
The breakfast provided is very basic - bread rolls, nasty (not fresh) croissants, decaying apples and some yoghurts etc.
We found good options for drink and food around Place st.
Staff at reception friendly and helpful on arrival.
Staff were very helpfull and as was the new flat screen TV.
What really made this hotel stand out was how friendly and helpful the staff were.
From checking in and helping us navigate the town to providing guidance as to how to get online using the wireless internet, the staff were great.
Enclosed parking is available, and there is a pleasant terrace under trees next to the car park.
There is a parking inside the hotel and wireless internet connection free of charge.
There also seemed to be off-street parking for those with car rental.
The beds were clean and comfortable and we had a balcony which overlooked a garden.
