Gorgeous, classy rooms with perfect decor and serene atmosphere. Discreet staff. Excellent honor bar. Lovely courtyards and balconies. Conveniently close to Frenchman Street and other attractions, but on a quiet street for a peaceful night's sleep.

I think the history of this place is also one of its biggest selling points, and aside from the enduring Southern charm, is one of the qualities we most enjoyed about it. We came to New Orleans to experience the music, food, history and whole energy of the place. Being in our early 40's, we are less apt to trawl the Bourbon Street area, though having only lived in large American cities, we very much appreciate the vibrant city life itself. So, the Soniat House ended up being perfect for us because of its close location to everything we wanted to experience, and its distance from that which we did not. We'll be staying there again if we come back in town. We are also VERY likely to recommend the place to our like- minded friends.

The only piece of our experience that made us pause says more about us than about the hotel itself. My husband and I are very liberal, white and grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. In other words, though we have lived now in Los Angeles for many years, we are Northerners through and through. It made both of us a bit uncomfortable to be waited on by African Americans in formal dress akin to what house slaves might have worn on the plantation pre-Civil War. Though their attire certainly fit with the gorgeous old-world surrounding, and every staff member was of the highest quality- kind, courteous, helpful and appeared happy to be working there- we couldn't help but feel a deeply-rooted sense of white entitled guilt. Now, we can only imagine that for those in the service industry, working at the Soniat House would be a great job to land, so there was no feeling of pity (I also spent my twenties and early thirties supporting myself in many areas of service.) But seeing the staff in this specific garb simply made us slightly uncomfortable and sadly aware of class distinction, which of course still exists today. That said, this feeling will not keep us away from the hotel in the future, it is just something esoteric I thought to mention.

I had a fantastic stay at this place! The location was perfect, just blocks away from the vibrant French Market and the heart of the French Quarter. The staff here exceeded my expectations, delivering excellent service and meeting all my requests. The room was lovely, with a comfortable bed and a charming balcony where I could relax and enjoy the view. The bathroom was a pleasant surprise, well-maintained and equipped with all the necessary amenities. I also appreciated the free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TV that kept me entertained during my downtime. I felt incredibly comfortable and well-taken care of at this venue.

I would recommend this hotel to my friends if they're looking for a luxurious and comfortable stay in this city.

I loved the old New Orleans feel of the Hotel. Very attentive staff. I stayed in the main portion of the hotel in a Deluxe Queen Room. Not for those looking for all the modern conveniences. Our room was on the second floor and faced the street. It felt as if the balcony was our private, although it wasn'T.

What we didn't like was th small tv; no refrigerator in th room; having to ask for ice and tip every time. Peeling paint in the room.

This historic boutique hotel has everything. It is beautifully restored inside and out and the interior design is among the most beautiful and authentic I have ever seen in an American hotel . The Frette linens and other custom made linens are remarkable. The breakfast with homemade piping hot bisquits with jam and butter, the Creole coffee and fresh orange juice served by lovely staff made the morning. Finally, the front desk and other management could not have been more helpful. I was called the day before to see if I would like to have my double bed for two friends changed to two twins. Such thoughtfulness has never been experienced with a hotel before.

The courtyard garden at Soniat House is absolutely stunning and provides a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The tea and coffee service brought out to enjoy in the garden is a lovely touch. The staff at the front desk were also extremely helpful and friendly. I had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend this hotel.

It is beautifully designed. All the accoutrements are wonderful. It is a fun place to stay when visiting with other people who are also there.

The bed was very uncomfortable. There was no way to block the morning light from the windows. There was a raccoon or something in the attic over the room which kept us up all night. The workmen started their saws at 8 am on a Saturday.

Stayed at Soniat House for a few nights and had a wonderful experience. The staff was lovely and the location was perfect. The hotel itself is full of character and charm. The courtyard is beautiful and the rooms are fantastic. Some previous guests may have found the rooms dark, but we loved the historic feel. The breakfast in bed was a highlight, and all the attractions were within walking distance. We would definitely come back in a heartbeat.

    Strongly recommend this hotel.

If you're looking for a unique, historic hotel experience, in a charming location away from the hustle and bustle, this is the place for you. Enjoy a quiet night's sleep and a delicious breakfast in the comfort of your room, or the peaceful courtyard. The room decor is elegant, with vintage lamps that add to the charm. The service is excellent, and the staff will make you feel right at home. Take a stroll through the city to soak up the local atmosphere, and enjoy the French Quarter, which has plenty of restaurants and attractions nearby.

The hotel is perfectly located, close enough to walk to almost everywhere in the French Quarter. It offers a refuge from the modern city life of America, allowing guests to experience the charm and character of the city. The rooms are well equipped with renovated bathrooms, providing a comfortable stay for guests. Additionally, the staff is professional and accommodating, ensuring a pleasant experience.

One downside is the slightly run-down furnishings in the inn, which may not appeal to those looking for a slick and new aesthetic.
