Sonesta St George Hotel Luxor - 樂蜀

The location was excellent--our room with balcony overlooked the Nile and was close to little shops.

5 out of 10 (well nobodys perfect) and I would certainly stay at the Sonesta again, from looking at other hotels it certainly has a prime location within 15 mins walk of Luxor Temple.

The location is great too - it is right on the Nile with great views from the pool area and bar.

The only drawback was the amount of carriages and taxis that hasseled you the minute you set foot out of the lobby.

The taxi & guide price was LE 220 but we had to pay the entrance fees.

The room was outstanding and the bed the size of some rooms I've stayed in.

Our room had a side Nile view with twin beds and put me up bed for our daughter.

The rooms are spotless with bed linen changed daily and towels twice daily.

We had made complaints about the cleaning standard of the room which, although provided with clean bed linen and towels nothing was removed in order to clean surfaces and floors were not hoovered unless requested.

Do agree with previous review no tea making facility in room and carpet had seen better days but bathroom well appointed ,clean towels twice a day if required , beds no problem and chamberman ( no maids) did very good job.

The food in the restaurants was excellent, from the buffet breakfast to the evening meals in the many hotel restaurants.

RESTAURANTS: We ate in the Aladdin Restaurant on our anniversary, which was lovely.

Food both for breakfast and in the restaurants was a good standard.

We did not eat at any of the hotel restaurants but did enjoy the wonderful buffet breakfast.

Food was excellent and I highly recommend the chocolate mousse at the evening buffet in the main restaurant (buffet more expensive than meals elsewhere in hotel, but you do get to eat as much as you like).

The staff are very friendly but still give great service.

When taking taxis always agree on a price before you set off, ask your rep or staff at Sonesta reception how much it should be.

General service in the hotel was great, all staff made us feel welcome and were always smiling.

George stood out as excellent because it has it all: perfect location with a beautiful lobby, rooms, pool and even good Japanese food.

SPA/HEALTH CLUB- gym is free to use for hotel residents.

I did not use the pool but did use the treadmill in the small gym room, which was functional and clean but lacked windows.

The hotel is magnificent, all the staff are very friendly and the rooms are immaculately clean and tidy.

The rooms are immaculately clean and tidy, the communal rooms are clean and spacious and the pool area is very well looked after.

The hotel itself was amazing, the staff were just great and the rooms were immaculately kept clean.
