We took a city bus on the return trip which dropped us off just down the hill from the hotel.

The room was large and had a very comfortable bed and bathtub.

This houses 2 or 3 restaurants - my favourite is the Stubbi at the end, interesting cuisine and not too expensive.

The waiter in the Italian restaurant was so bad mannered we walked away to try option B the tapas restaurant;lousy food ,worse service.

We found it to be very comfortable with great service and a nice breakfast as well.

Breakfast was poor at best ,which the surly staff managed to make worse by presenting us with a bill for the breakfast which I had already cleared with check in staff on arrival.

What we really appreciated a lot was the friendly staff at the reception, they recommended us to visit the Cinema World, but instead we opt for a gala evening at the Municipal theater which is also few steps away from the hotel.

Loyalty programme is a bit hit and miss in giving rewards, reception staff don't seem to know much about tie in with airline programmes and even their own programme.

Staff was friendly and spoke English, and was patient with my attempts to speak French, but they were a little reserved.

The front desk was quite helpful in directing us to the bus stop for a trip into the city.

There are only 2 hotels in Kirchberg, the Sofitel and the Novotel next door, and IMHO, the service levels reflect the captive audience they have.

One of the main points for booking the hotel wa the free parking outside where there were more than enough spaces.

The room was spacious and very clean in short, we couldn't fault it.
