Sofitel Karnak Luxor - 樂蜀

The situation is perfect - just outside Karnak, the location of the hotel directly at the Nile is excellent as well as the lovely garden/park and the staff are so friendly.

The location - away from the noise, hassle and traffic of Luxor and right next to the Nile.

If you want to be out of the way in a peaceful location - you are, if you miss the bustle of a busy city - you do.

We got a taxi to the hotel from luxor airport and feel we landed on our feet.

We were told that we would not reserve a taxi to the airport, only a shared van, and they recommended that we just show up at 6am and ask for a taxi.

None of this bothered me, the air con worked brilliantly, the rooms were thoroughly cleaned every day with all bed linen and towels changed daily.

The rooms are large enough for a family and are cleaned regularly by the housekeeping staff who even leave a little chocolate on your pillow every evening, and make animal shapes out of your bed clothes and towels, which my daughter found great.

Well, we were on the ground floor and the room was a good size with two twin beds, a desk, a sofa, an outside sitting area, bathroom/shower and plenty of storage space.

So we upgraded at an extra £20 per night and had a much larger room with A double and single bed, the room was not quite as fresh but still as clean.

A corner suites has a sitting room and a (small) bedroom.

The food was ok, what you expect from a buffet style restaurant, breakfasts good and plenty of choice, dinner was a bit samey and we tended to eat in the O'Nile restaurant which was brilliant for both lunch and dinner if we were about.

Meals (breakfast and evening meal) at the hotel's 'Opet' restaurant were very enjoyable, the food was varied, and hot when it should have been hot, and cold when it should have been cold.

Choice of places to eat, seafood restaurant was OK, kids liked buffet meals and the freshly made pancakes for breakfast were a big hit.

The restaurants produced very good food although the large buffet restaurant just off main reception was a little repetative but having said that, the range was more than sufficient.

The room was perfect, again the bar staff were so nice and the food was great especially the breakfast.

The pool area is great, hotel has free bus service to take you into Luxor and the reception staff are knowledgeable and friendly.

We found the reception and all the hotel staff to be very helpful!

Whilst the hotel is advertised and built to 5* quality, don’t expect 5* service – there is not the clientele to warrant this at the moment – if the tourism picks up, perhaps the investment in front line staff will improve.

A great view of the nile, very good value for money and the reception staff were very efficient.

The Hotel is great everything you could ever need to help you relax is there, nice pool , gym , jacuzzi (my wife loved it!

The swimming pool,gym and sauna were pleasing.

As we went in november the sun would set by 5pm, by 6pm you would be swimming in a pool as warm as a jacuzzi under the stars.

The rooms were always kept clean and tidy by the men cleaners and were always very friendly and welcoming.

Hotel room (2047) was a little bit smaller than we expected but it was clean and we did have a slight sliding wardrobe doors (that wouldn't!

I can only speak for my own room but it was clean and quite spacious with good daily service.

The hotel is very clean with beautiful rooms.

The staff were very friendly and the rooms were very clean (sheets changed daily and chocolates left on your pillow every night!
