Sofitel Buenos Aires - 布宜诺斯艾利斯

It had the feel of staying in an intimate, nice neighborhood rather than a tourist location.

The location was also excellent with many very nice restaurants and shopping areas nearby.

If you like to be in a central location with shops and restaurants nearby I would recommend the Alvear or the Four Seasons.

I used a taxi (USD 25) to the main international airport; I saw no obvious public transport for that trip.

Central location, close to subte (subway), walking distance from some nice restaurants, easy to get radio taxis called by the hotel.

We had an upper floor Deluxe room: beautifully appointed (understatated, uber-comfortable duvet bed, a bathroom to die for -- nice Roger & Gallet toiletries included.

Stayed there for our honeymoon, and were stuck in a tiny room with a small double bed next to the elevator with a port-hole sized window.

The hotel is not large and the room size was average but exquisitely equipped and the bathroom was perfectly finished with both a deep bath and a huge walk-in shower.

The bed was large and comfortable, and the housekeeping was great, with beds being turned down twice a day, and little chocolates and a weather forecast left for us in the evening.

I was with my mom and we wanted two beds and there were only 3 or 4 low floor rooms that had two beds, so we couldn't have a room with a nice view.

The hotel has an imposing, rather grand reception area, on either side of which are the bar/restaurant, and breakfast rooms.

The breakfast is not up to the hotel´s standing, and the restaurant Le Sud, which used to be one the best in town now serves average meals.

The breakfast buffet in the hotel restaurant was a nice touch even though some of the offerings were a bit unusual.

The breakfast included in the rate of our room was fantastic, either a buffet in the restaurant or room service for a couple of dollars more (8 pesos).

The breakfast was ok but laid out in three separate locations in the breakfast restaurant, which did not open until 06.

While you can find faultless service at other fine hotels, never have I seen the warmth and outgoing friendliness of the youthful Sofitel staff--from the bellman to the housekeepers to the concierge to the waiters.

We lacked for nothing: free internet(we had our own laptop), marble bathrooms, Roger y Galet amenities, a separate shower and bathtub, free breakfast and wonderful, friendly employees, especially the front desk, concierge Pablo, and the bellboys.

As first time visitors to BA who do not speak Spanish ,we thought the staff--conceigne,front desk,bellmen,front door etc were incredibly helpful and really seemed to go out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible.

The people at the front desk were French and had much better English skills than the staff at other BA area hotels.

The only drawbacks to the hotel were a smallish gym with a little older equipment and the indoor pool did not have a jacuzzi.

Our only gripe would be that the pool and gym are small.

But with all the walking we did while we were there - the gym was barely missed at all!

We had a deluxe room which was good sized, nicely furnished and very clean.

The room was beautiful and spotlessly clean, and it felt brand new.
