The hotel seems like a welcome base for celebrating birthday. Traditional venue with super nice staff. We were given a japanese-style room upon arrival. The owner is nice. Shibu Onsen district was worth staying in.

We were delighted with the attentive service at Shibu Hotel. From the moment we arrived at Yudanaka station, they picked us up and made us feel welcomed. The traditional dinner served in our private room overlooking the stream was a highlight. The staff even went above and beyond by retrieving a lost phone from the train station. a fantastic stay.

our second stay in yamanouchi was even more delightful than the first. shibu exceeded our expectations with their exceptional service and attention to detail. the staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home, from picking us up and dropping us off at the train station to guiding us to the snow monkey park. a truly unforgettable experience.
Shower setup was a bit inconvenient.

the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and their ability to communicate in English was a huge bonus. Secondly, the hotel's location in the village was perfect for exploring the old town and nearby public baths. Lastly, the rooms were spotless and well-maintained, with stunning views of the surrounding area.
No improvements needed, everything was perfect.

The value for money at this hotel is excellent. With its affordable prices and attention to detail, you won't find a better deal in the Shibu area. The staff goes above and beyond to make your stay memorable, just like the owner Yamada Akiyoshi-san who took us on a tour of the stunning mountains. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with futon beds and stunning views of the surrounding area. And let's not forget the breakfast, which is absolutely delicious and offers a taste of authentic Japanese cuisine.
All was absolutely perfect, couldn't ask for more.

During my stay, the hotel staff went above and beyond in every way. They provided shuttle services to the nearby attractions and back to the station, which was very convenient. The rooms were spacious and comfortable with beautiful views of the river, and the en-suit bathroom facilities made the stay enjoyable. The hotel had its own onsen's and public ones nearby, both of which provided a relaxing experience. The breakfast was delicious with an authentic Japanese twist.
The issue with the showerhead, which was mentioned in one of the reviews.

The best part of my stay at this charming Japanese ryokan was the warm hospitality of the lovely family that owns it. They were kind, happy to assist, and made me feel right at home. The location was fantastic, with a small trail leading to a typical old Japanese street with restaurants and shops. The fact that I could choose my size from the provided Yukata and special yukata jackets was a nice touch. having access to a private Onsen without having to pay a special fee was a great perk.
I didn't dislike anything about my stay, but I wish I had more time to enjoy everything this ryokan had to offer. The breakfast was delicious and traditional, the room was spacious and clean, and the hotel had free parking and Wi-Fi.

I had an amazing stay at this hotel located in the mountains. The staff were warm and welcoming and provided appropriate clothing and footwear to enjoy the Onsen trail and monkey forest walk. The hotel also offered transfers to and from the railway station. The breakfast which was served in our own space had individual service and was traditional style. The hotel facilities were well-maintained and the location was outstanding.
Nothing that I didn't like.

The breakfast and the hotel shuttle were the best aspects of my Christmas stay. The Japanese-style breakfast was delicious with many options. The hotel shuttle was punctual and very convenient to reach the nearby attractions.
The rooms were not as clean as expected, with hair left on the bedding. Some staff were not very friendly and did not provide us with enough information about the public onsens and transport options.

The staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and memorable. They offered to drive us to the snow monkey park and even provided special gifts for my dad's birthday. The onsen experience was fantastic, with spacious and clean facilities. We also enjoyed the traditional Japanese breakfast and the convenience of being close to the public onsens. we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this hotel.
