Settha Palace Hotel Vientiane - 永珍

The location is only two blocks from good restaurants, a very nice hotel fairly close to the town and the building is a wonderfully renovated french colonial mansion.

The location is great and close to many shops and good restaurants.

The location is in a very quiet central street and the staff do not seem as friendly as in other hotels we stayed in in Asia.

However they surpassed themselves when we checked out and were on our way to the airport.

They delivered them direct to our guide at the airport without waitng for a "thank you" or a tip.

All slightly staid with marble floors, plush seats, chandelier-type lighting and bedrooms with heavy dark wooden furniture, very european in style, and our room was too dark (not helped by the monsoon clouds mind you).

The bathroom was beautiful with a separate tub and shower.

Our guide (unconnected to the hotel) received a call to say the maid had found some pills by the bed.

BED/SHEETS/PILLOW: Soft bed with nice but not luxurious linens.

LIGHTING: Darker than would have preferred in the bathroom and bedroom but adequate.

However, the restaurant "Belle Epoque" did not live up to its reputation as one of the best French restaurants.

Service in the main restaurant was excellent although breakfasts a tiny bit boring.

Food in the restaurant is ok-- there are better places to eat in Vientiane and cLEANLINESS: Entire room is very clean.

Dining room were elegant and breakfast was fine rather than great.

The bar is spacious and food is pretty good.

SERVICE: Staff was always attentive and the room was spacious.

Front desk staff variable in quality of assistance but very giving.

Best hotel service we've ever had anywhere in the world and none of the staff were smilling or saying good morning.

The pool / garden area are a calm oasis, the silent drive to the hotel and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Settha is housed in a lush green garden surrounding an inviting pool.

Explained that Laos is a hot country and pool area are beautiful.

One of the classic hotels in Vientiane, very efficient desk staff and the bathrooms clean and modern.

Definitely a great hotel, helpful staff and the room was immaculately clean.

Bathrooms very clean and the restaurant was a huge disappointment.

The room and the entire hotel were so clean that when you looked up at the ceiling or at the space between the floor and the wall, there was no dirt, no dust, no wall stains, no chipped paint.
