• What we really liked about this resort is that alot of the restaurants are not buffet style. In the evening the outdoor restaurants (Oceana / Seaside) transform into beautiful linen table cloths, candles and linen draped chairs. To be honest the food was so good there you really didn't need to go out of the box. There was a few complimentary Cancun / Riviera Maya Miami Herald papers that are available every morning in the main lobby which was nice. The hotel gym is located next to the spa and was very very nice. Karioke was eye opening to see the quiet ones at the pool come alive at night--we witnessed their other side :) They have a piano/ cigar bar with a piano player.

  The Riviera was closed alot in the evening for dinner but they did offer some special theme dinners while we were there example "French Cuisine Night", etc.

  We arrived at the airport and met our friendly transportation folks which we pre arranged with our travel agent [--]. We were briefly oriented to the resort then escorted to our room. The room was a standard room with an ocean view and balcony. Quite a comfortable size with nice furnishings. Standard size tub so not usuable for the average adult also a double sink with complementary lighting. The only quirky thing is that there is a bit of a lack of privacy while taking care of your business in the toilet. The pool is huge and the perfect temperature with an abundance of lounge chairs and rafts.

  Dont miss the steam/sauna rooms and the hot and cold plunges just outside the steam/sauna area.

• The service was both impeccable and friendly in the restaurants, on the beach or at the pool. The entertainment staff, always smiling, were very visible at all times inviting guests personally (though no hard sell) to participate in the various water/land sports, salsa lessons, Spanish lessons, etc. The buffet breakfast was awesome at the Riviera. It just felt like the right thing to do for the friendly, courteous service we received.

  If you would like to find a place that is quiet and relaxing, this is the place. From the champagne and aroma therapy face cloths at check-in, to the multiple options for meals, unlimited drinks (both non-alcoholic and alcoholic), to the friendly staff, we were not disappointed one bit. It still amazes me that here I am in a nice resort in Mexico and they do not have a restaurant that specializes in Mexican cuisine. Don't get me wrong, the food at Himitsu was good, but I did not go to Mexico for the Hibachi expreience. Not like the Ritz, but all-in-all the rooms are very comfortable. The mini bar was stocked with the basics (water, soda and beer). You could not order anything from the restaurants "to-go", but you have 24hr room service available.

  We enjoyed the waiter service on the beach - Oscar brought us tasty drinks and tasty nachos without us having to move from our chairs! The tips were appreciated and we felt the staff deserved it. No problem finding chairs by the pool or beach at any time, and never felt the need to get up early just to reserve loungers. We would sit by the beach in the morning, and sit near the pool in the afternoon, and never had a problem finding chairs. The 2 outdoor dinners - one on the beach and another around the pool - were awesome. Some nights there was a big screen TV outdoors that showed a movie, or the football game.

  The minibar was always stocked and the maid service was always on time. The water is not as bright turqoise as you would see in Cancun. ENTERTAINMENT/STAFF: This is the only real thing missing from this fabulous hotel.

  We had some really AWFUL service at the Italian restaurant. We had one rude waiter that sighed heavily after each thing we said.

  The management team and staff at SC are first class. They are without a doubt the best in guest services. At SC you have the option in the daytime of resting by the pool and quietly read a book or enjoy a number of activities throughout the whole day. In the evenings there is Monday Night Football on the beach which most of the guys love and alternatively there is a fun casino night with play money which you can later bid on spa certificates and other gifts.

  In 5 years and 71 days at SC I can honestly say that we have never met a single rude staff member.

  It was quick, painless, professional and pleasant. Our room was in the north side of the hotel "horseshoe", a 2nd floor ocean view with a great balcony with enough privacy we spent nearly every night sitting out late with a glass of wine in our cute little bathrobes that the room provided. The room was spacious and nicely appointed, bathroom large with a huge shower stall and the door to the toilet kept it more private than at home! The bed was a huge king sized- I remember the bed the first time being hard- my only complaint- obviously that had been addressed and was very comfy. I am an early riser so getting a lounge around the pool was never a problem, but unless you were just getting out there around 11 am or later this didn't seem an issue at all. We loved that half of the pool is heated and half not- you could choose.

  Where do I bring, we arrived at night and were greeted with a lovely reception of wet towels and champagne while we checked in. We had booked a Junior suite room 164, (brilliant room) and a wedding package, more about that later. Our bags were taken to the room for us and the porter showed us around our room as to where everything was i. Light switches, mini bar, numbers for calling for service. We had been travelling for 13 hours so were ready for the bed but with the excitement we had to have a quick look around. We ate in 4 out of the 5 restaurants, didn’t make it to the seafood restaurant as there was always a waiting list so food must have been good. In the other 4 I could not fault them one bit, the food was excellent and very fresh. We ate each day in the buffet for breakfast and lunch which was lovely overlooking the pool area.
