Scandic Tampere City

Central location to shop and located opposite bus station so ideal getting bus between Tampere.

Pros: Good location in city--right next to the main train station, simple connection into Tampere and the staff were pleasant.

Good central location opposite the train station - which was ideal as the bus from the airport drops you there.

On arriving into the hotel we were given the option of 2 rooms, either a big dbl bed in a small room with no bath or a twin room lager in size with a bath.

In a modern Scandinavian style, friendly staff and either a big dbl bed in a small room.

Arrived to a room without a bath and staff immediately changed rooms happily.

The room I was given was a twin where the bed could be coupled to make a double if required.

Pushing the beds together does work for a while but it was only on the second night that we discovered that the headboard moves too and secures the bed in place!

This serious annoyance apart, the hotel provides a good hot and cold selection at breakfast, and the restaurant for lunch and dinner has a fairly simple, mostly quite inexpensive selection.

There was more than enough variety, but it's served in the restaurant attached to the hotel, which is cosily lit for evening eating, but is not my ideal kind of breakfast room.

Great for shopping (shops close on a Sunday) and everywhere you look there is a bar or restaurant.

It was very cold whilst we were there, going down to around -8, but Tampere has quite a bit to do, and you're never too far from a bar, cafe or restaurant to warm up.

As a Gold member in Hilton Honors we also received a €14:- certificate to spend in hotel restaurant or bar.

Additionally the reception staff speak excellent english, room had air-con didn't work as I had wished.

Particularly impressive front desk service, rooms are IKEA type fitout - functional and comfortable, the breakfast is good.

Great location, then booked the hotel direct from the Scandic website and very friendly efficient staff at reception.

Furthermore efficient service at the front desk and the rooms are really nice and clean.

There is a decent sauna and a limited gym for leisure use.

A Fantastic hotel, modern and clean building, lobby Music – great.

Also, the free wireless was a nice touch but I am not sure if that is for all or only hilton honors as the login started "hh.

The toilet was clean and restaurant was open till late in the evening.

The bathroom was clean and breakfast was really good.

Nevertheless our room was attractive, quite spacious and clean.
