Scandic Alesund - 奥勒松

When the room was cleaned, apparently no one swept under the bed; we found credit card receipts from previous occupants.

The bedroom itself was probably recently refurbished and featured a modern bathroom, excellent fittings etc.

It was so lovely that we didn't close the curtains for the entire stay, preferring to lie in bed watching the sun go down (very late, of course)!

We were upgraded on arrival to a suite, a very large and modern room with a stunning view over the harbour and across to the nearby islands.

It literally felt like we were in the water and there were only 5 rooms like this in the whole hotel.

If you visit, do take the great walking tour offered by the Tourist office of all the lovely circa 1906 buildings) The breakfast was very good, but the fish on the buffet was not very tasty, nor was another meal we had there.

Breakfast buffet offered a great deal of choice and was busy.

Breakfast was something special with a huge buffet with almost anything you could want including roasted potatoes with the hot breakfast, fresh fruit and croissants.

Luckily there are some excellent restaurants nearby.

The breakfast buffet was fine, though crowded with tour groups.

Also, parking is not free and there may be cheaper places to park than where the hotel directs you.

I still don't understand why hotels charge for parking but what do I know.

Parking find after 5pm but until then can be expensive, although a reasonable looking parking garage is just 1 minute walk.

The hotel room was clean, tidy and although not large was a good enough size for a stopover.

Staff were very helpful and the hotel itself and rooms are spotlessly clean.

The room was well appointed and clean but could have used some updating.
