Have stayed here three times and it is one of the best value for money hotels I have stayed in anywhere.
The hotel was clean and offers very good value for money and is well situated for the city centre.
Budget hotel but like most things in life , you pays your money and you makes your choice.
But all up we found the Sandman hotel in downtown Calgary excellent value and would stay again.
The location was very convinient as it is located right off the Transcanada Hwy.
Just next to the train stop, decent location , but the Sheraton and the Westin are in a much better location, near the park and the bow river.
Its location in downtown Calgary, close to the tram-stop make it ideal for visitors, particularly at Stampede time as we were.
We actually got train and bus to airport much cheaper than taxi.
The Sandman Down Town is located about 15 minutes from the airport & right around the corner from the tram stop.
Rooms were fine – comfy bed, a swiffle office chair was a rather odd inclusion, bathroom was clean & for one night after a long flight we were content with our air-conditioned room for the night.
The hotel room was below par; poor lighting in the room and bathroom, toilet had to be re-flushed constantly to stop the annoying "running water" sound, and upon checkout the hotel actually charges $1.
I really appreciated the room darkening curtains and super comfy bed!
The only thing I need in a hotel is a good bed and a clean room.
They would not make my bed if i was inside the room,i had to leave.
Great hotel with nice service, features city location and dining (M-Bar and Moxies restaurant).
The restaurant is also there and is passable, just, although we preferred to take breakfast at the coffee shop along the street.
Restaurant did not seem prepared to serve breakfast to all customers and ran out of food before breakfast time ended.
The restaurant can be busy at breakfast time if a large tour has been at the hotel.
Moxie's restaurant is excellent as is the bar upstairs.
Front desk staff couldn't have been nicer.
I had to go to the front desk and find an english speaking staff member.
Stayed here on my first visit to Calgary, found the hotel had a nice facade (reception, Moxies bar, friendly staff), but the room itself was very dark and a bit on the shabby side.
The pool was freezing cold and the jacuzzi was not working.
Finally, other problems I encountered: Some staff said the pool/fitness area closed at 10, others at 11, bottom line, nobody came to close it after 11.
The hotel is a ‘tower’ with some car parking below.
The free Business Center is nice with one community pc and two connections for laptops.
Room was dated and surface clean/tidy , dont expect pristine deep cleaning.
Room was clean and tidy but on the small side but fine for the price and was very well situated on the main train route.
Good value for money - clean, excellent service and the room was nice.
Hotel is central and clean, lobby is kind of fixed up compared to the rooms, all the staff are very friendly and helpful.
Bathroom was very clean, the restaurant was adequate.
