If we had paid the $99 quoted by the hotel directly, we would have not felt we got value for our money.
But we were thrilled to find the Sand Dollar because the accommodations are clean and well appointed (though not luxurious), the customer service at the desk is that of any luxurious hotel charging far more, and the price is really reasonable.
I'd stay here again in a heartbeat, and for the price I don't think you can find a better hotel on the central coast anywhere!
We usually stay at Best Western hotels, but the prices in Monterey were too much.
CARMEL VALLEY RANCH is a great deal and the location is very good.
The location is really convenient to Fisherman's Warf, clean place to be used mainly for sleeping and the Sand Dollar Inn is a great deal for the money.

We were a little disappointed with our patio which was completely enclosed by a 6 foot fence and got absolutely no sun at all!
We took a taxi as it was a bit chilly to walk.
The rooms were well appointed; an extra sink in the sitting room helped; a sofa bed, nice coffee mugs, very pleasant shower and extra clean bathroom were all plusses.
The rooms barely have enough room for a single queen size bed; only single beds per room.
For $70, our room was clean and bright with two comfortable queen beds, a fireplace, a spacious bathroom, plenty of hot water, a TV that actually worked, a wet bar and refrigerator, and a table with two chairs.
Comfortable bed, great shower, fireplace in room, big TV, small fridge, wet bar.
I agree that it is not much to look at from the outside but our room was clean, the bed comfy and a good shower.
If your a person that requires a little more substantial breakfast (like me), you may as well pass on this breakfast and head for a restaurant.
Additionally staff were friendly, room was large and the continental breakfast was really only a coffee/juice bar.
The complimentary breakfast (with hard boiled eggs) was also a plus as it helped us get right on out and not spend time waiting to be served at a restaurant or to be filled up with danishes.
There was a closed bordered-up older restaurant in the motel’s parking lot, which, if opened, would have been preferable to the continental breakfast (at least you could of sit down).
The continental breakfast was really only a coffee/juice bar with some rolls.
We were very please with the service, the reception staff was super friendly and nice when we asked about places to eat and how to get around Monterey.
Defintely a good value for the money, the reception staff was super friendly and the room we has was big.
I would have given it an "excellent" except that the pool and spa were closed when we stayed there.
The pool and spa were clean and not over crowded.
I enjoyed the jacuzzi/pool that was kept warm even though we had ice on our windshields each morning (late December).
There is free WIRELESS internet throughout the buildings.
There are no hardwired ethernet ports, STRICTLY wireless that works quite well.
The bathroom was small but super clean, all the towels and floor were spotless.
The room was clean, very tidy, and everything worked.
The rooms were very clean, the continental breakfast was bagels and the swimming pool was warm.
Excellent value for money, friendly staff and room was very spacious and clean.
Decor in the room was slightly old fashioned but very clean.
