The "nominal charge" for valet parking was anything but, and for that price we could have stayed at a far more luxurious kind of hotel.
Great location and price for a good quality hotel.
Great views over the city and outside of that you have an excellent hotel.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a central location close to shops etc.

Chirstchurch - only grouch we had but it wasnt with hotel - Cost $43 for taxi from airport - seemed an awful lot - we caught bus back to airport - $7.
The train station is some distance from the center of town and requires a taxi/van ride.
However I find it hard to see that a King Bed Deluxe room to a small room with two double beds was an upgrade.
We checked in & went to our room to find two double beds when we had booked a City View Deluxe King Bed Room.
The room was very clean and newly renovated, with the best bed that I think I have slept in at a hotel!
The DREAM BED were fantastic, probably the most comfortable hotel beds we've have slept in.
Being exhausted i eventually backed down and went to my room which although was nice in apperance had bubble gum stuck in the corner of the window, dirty pillowcases and hairs in the bathroom.
Hot food in the breakfast bar was a little ordinary and facilities were all very good.
That night had dessert in bar and night cap - restaurant and bar staff exceptional - attentive from our arrival to our departure.
Had dinner in the hotel restaurant one of the nights and the others ate out, the restaurant food was excellent as well.
We didn't eat breakfast there or order any food.
Great location for shops and i loved having beautiful breakfasts at the hotel.
Reception and concierge staff were very helpful and I was very impressed with the free shuttle service from the hotel to the train station.

The location was convenient for the main central tourist activities, the staff were good for a hotel and the service was excellent.
This place is fine and the lobby is spacious.
Parking in town can be expensive, and they charge even a bit less than a parking garage would charge for 24 hours ($15).
I prefer paying extra for parking at a hotel - if I was there without a car I wouldn't have liked it to pay for someone else's parking, included in paying higher accomodation rates.
Moreover the staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms are you'd expect from Rydges - functional and clean.

The room was clean for the most part, but you could see where the dust was building up around the edges of the room.
The rooms are clean and the staff are sort of helpful but nothing outstanding.
