Surrounded by historic sites, museums and galleries, Royal Highland Hotel offers 50 guestrooms featuring a fantastic view. Renovated in 2006, the excellent hotel has welcomed guests since 1850.

A 20-minute walk from Bogbain Farm, Caledonian Thistle and Wildwoodz Paintball and Lasertag Park, the hotel is set close to bars, restaurants and shopping centers. The property is 300m away from Caledonian Canal, Chanonry Point and Inverness Museum and Art Gallery.

It lies only 150m away from Inverness Railway train station. 15 minutes' drive from Inverness airport.


The hotel provides non-smoking rooms including Classic Family Room, Royal Double Room and Classic Triple Room.             This is the second time we've stayed there because you could not be more in the city centre. Friendly unobtrusive staff with nothing too much trouble

            Breakfast on the Thursday morning was a bit chaotic but this was because they had put up extra people because of the snow - 2nd April which meant the A9 was closed as well as the rail line and they had had tio turn people away because they just did not have any room - it was one of those things

            Great location next to station (but didn't hear any station noise in room) with taxi rank outside. Hotel efficient with no fuss. Friendly staff. Comfortable (small) room. Bathroom with bath and shower and lots of hot water. Pleasant reception/lounge area for sitting/waiting/having a drink. Good, buffet breakfast. Grand building but needs restoring to former glory. Pretty good dinner at ASH restaurant.

            Green paint everywhere, which with the low lighting at breakfast made it feel dismal. (As there is no view from this room suggest install light boxes at windows.) Upstairs glass to central atrium painted over - such a shame as lovely central staircase and could look fabulous.

            We enjoyed the size of room, beds and tv. We were relocated to a larger room in a quieter area of the hotel as some drilling of the tarmac started about 10pm outside our bedroom, by the railway station. The room we were moved to was much bigger and with queen size beds each instead of single. We also enjoyed the discount available on the 2 course lunch we had. We both really enjoyed the variety of meals and the tastes.

            Towel warmer

            The price for value was ridiculous. We paid 120gbp for a room that had insane street noise, expensive breakfast (not included), and 4 television channels (to sleep to in order to block the street noise). Parking is pitiful. I ordered a glass of wine and it was covered in lipstick (not mine). There was no food available after 9:00pm except potato chips. . .Very unfortunate.

            Hotel billed me twice leaving me £280 out of pocket. I emailed to complain the day after checking out but I've had no reply. If hotel does not correct the error, I will go to the authorities, and would appreciate publicising this case.
