So be prepared to either stay in the hotel at all times and pay a lot of money for average food and service at dinner or be prepared to take lots of taxi rides into Catania.
We have found star ratings in Italian hotels to be over rated compared with England, so we were expecting the Romano Palace to be more like an English 4 star, particularly as the room price was.
On our way there from the airport, the taxi driver gave us the thumbs up when we told him where.
Perfect location - 10min from the airport and also taxis to Catania central.

The rooms are opened with electronic keys which make a loud buzz every time someone enters their room.
You can also hear people speaking, using the toilet and engaging in many other activities in the rooms adjoining and above.
Breakfast was served either outside in a delightful shaded area or in an air-conditioned room depending on the heat - up to 47 degrees!

The restaurant and bar were also a little expensive.
We found all the staff, but particularly the maitre d' and the restaurant and bar staff, to be professional and obliging, always saying hello, and obviously wanting us to enjoy our stay.
Really nice hotel complex with everything you could possibly need and a whole lot more: private beach, sailing trips, horse riding, swimming pool, restaurant, bar, the list goes on and on.
One of the best hotels in my life, the staff on reception were excellent and the rooms were nice.
Great Value, friendly service from bellboy to reception and our upgraded room overlooked a beautiful garden.
Friendly i'd stay again flying out of the Catania airport-- dinner was good too and the staff was a mix - the woman in the reception was very nice and helpfull.
The hotel staff were very helpful, the men working in reception were all very nice and room had no kettle or hot water for tea/coffee.
Lovely balcony, pool with jacuzzi jets, and breakfast options.
The jacuzzi facility in the pool doesn't work.
Car parking is really immadequate especially when there are functions or parties on.
You'll have a quiet relaxing time in lovely clean and air conditioned rooms.
Clean and nice bathroom, great breakfast.
