Although Milan is much prettier on the north it is not worth paying lots of money and book a hotel there because Romana Residence offers you all that you expect from a 5*hotel and it is so so cheap!
Great hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, perfect location for sites, shops and restaurants/cafes for a reasonable price - ideal!
Until we came upon Romana Residence a 4* hotel that had the prices of a 2*!
The Romana is probably not the chicest or most modern hotel in Milan, but the rooms were comfortable and large enough and certainly worth the price we paid.

The only thing is good location and hotel: The hotel is situated near crocecca.
It's about a 15 minute walk to the Duomo (though there are lots of trams too) and about a 7 minute taxi ride to the Cordonia Station where the Malpensa express gets in.
We walked to the Duomo, and a metro station was 100 yards away - an excellent metro system for this smallish city with working and user-friendly ticket machines that take visa and amex!

The breakfast buffet was terrific, and it was within walking distance of restaurants, main piazza, and metro.
The staff, the decor, the lifts, the other guests, the breakfasts, the nice breakfast room - you just get the feeling that you're in a nice unpretentious Italian hotel.
There are plenty of restaurants in the neighbourhood if you don't want to venture far - we actually even had a decent dinner in the hotel's restaurant.
Very friendly reception staff, free internet and there was wonderful restaurant just 300 metres away.
The location was great, the hotel was clean and the reception staff were excellent allowed us early check in.
Good location, central place and a helpful staff at the front desk.
I got stuck twice in the lift doors and missed two lifts due to this quick shutting doors.
Furthermore hotel was very clean, the rate was so cheap through Booked and the Internet access pc in the lobby was.
Not only did they provide tourist info above and beyond, they also fixed our luggage which we had stored in the lobby the day of departure.
Wifi is inclusive of price and great "galley" style full kitchen in between.
The staff was good and the bathroom was somehow basic clean.
Furthermore staff were helpful and the room was quiet and clean.
