I rated this hotel as Excellent, but will say that my judgment is slightly colored by the very low price we paid through Booked.net.
Very nice hotel- excellent location, good food.
First the good stuff: great location, right on the river.
The rooms are great and the location can't be beat - my family and I love walking the Portland waterfront!
Quick drive to the airport the next day, the Riverplace is a fine hotel in a great city.
If you are a big walker, you can get pretty much anywhere downtown on foot, no problem.
But their junior suite was a small room, that is it-- one room, with a queen size bed.
Riverplace is currently renovating the rooms to include more modern marble baths, and there is a sign in the lobby that says due to bathroom renovation, you may experience some water-pressure problems, M-F.
The Staff was professional and the bed in our bedroom was SO cozy and COMFORTABLE.

Our room was nice and big and the bed was super-comfortable.
We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant the next morning.
This hotel is close to many shops, theatres, public transportation, nightlife, and many FANCY restaurants (along with casual-dining restaurants), that are only footsteps away.
We ate at the restaurant in the hotel and the food was very good.
If you are in a hurry this wouldn't be the restaurant to choose but you would miss some terrific food.
Lots of good shops and restaurants all around within a short walking distance.
A good full-service hotel, fantastic staff and free internet usage.
The staff here was great, the concierge was nice and the room was beautiful.
The location convenient, the hotel staff was professional and the turndown service was lovely.

The room they gave us overlooked the valet parking area by the lobby on the opposite side of the river (perhaps because we had a gift certificate, they decided to give us the WORST room they had).
Only complaint was the lack of parking options, which resulted in a lot of money for valet parking (26 bucks a night, which is pretty steep for Portland).
Just got back from a weekend trip to Portland - a spa weekend that also included a concert at a nearby park.
Of course, there's always Shilo Inn's for much less money, but if you prefer clean, odor free, comfortable rooms and incredible service then you needn't look further than Riverplace.
Our room was awesome, spacious, extremely clean and well equipped.
The rooms and the common areas of the hotel were pristine and beautifully appointed.
