The atmoshpere, the architecture and the location

Unfortunately we were unfortunate and had a larger group next to us (several rooms) who returned home around 1:30 and continued to be extermely noisy (also in the corridor) until 3:00 am which is when we personally intervened for the second time. We also called the reception twice.

The inside pool in the cave, the luxurious 100 years old history and decoration, the Charleston restaurant

Although the hotel is very nice and luxurious, the staff is a big minus. There were a lot of complaints from various guests (about airconditioning, bathrooms etc). We paid half day charge, as we wanted to leave the hotel at 18.00 pm and when we asked them why they had not cleaned the room, as this is supposed to be included in the half day charge hotel obligations, the man in the reception answered " why you needed cleaning, it was your family that was staying there, are you so dirty?" And at the same time the reception lady sitting at the back desk was laughing ironically. When we asked for the manager, they told us that he was not there that day and then a supposed to be "manager" passing by, told us that in this hotel they don't include the cleaning in the half day charge. If you want to go there, I suggest that not even think to complain. It is better to take some tools with you to fix any problem by yourself than to complain to somebody, as they are going to ruin your holidays.

The decor is wonderful, location for the lake & town are excellent. I booked for October by mistake, but the reception staff were very understanding when we arrived a month earlier in September! They gave us one of the best rooms with big veranda, but one of our dogs got on to the stain glass room. It was a talking point of our stay!

The price was fair for the quirkiness, but the full price is quick high.

Extravagant hotel in a nice city. Excellent location for everything in Stresa. Everything you can ask for, both inside and outside.

Breakfast a littlebit to sad, but ok for Italian standards. Slow elevator. :)

Bedroom lighting was extremely poor. Reading in bed was an ordeal. In addition, a message left by friends on a Wednesday for a proposed meeting on Thursday was not delivered to us until Friday evening, Not much good !!! The main lounge was too cold to sit in and be comfortable. Although it was the beginning of June, the weather was v wet and chilly.

The hotel staff were amazing, really attentive, you couldn't have asked for more. The breakfast was lovely, again waiters were great couldn't do enough. The main reason we chose the hotel was for the pool but we were pleasantly surprised by the indoor pool and spa facilities, great way to relax in a cloudy day or just before going out for dinner. The hotel was located centrally on Stresa, we had a beautiful lake view, and the square was an easy walk! We loved our stay as we just wanted to relax!

Beautiful location, lovely indoor pool area. Very near town centre.

Possibly the rudest most unhelpful reception woman ever. After paying quite alot of money for our stay, the receptionist(woman in her late 30's) just threw back my card without a thank you etc! Staff do not make you feel welcome, the only nice staff I encountered were the cleaning ladies!! Really overpriced and over rated. Rooms really small, only on person could sit on balcony, breakfast really boring. The hotel may look beautiful from the outside but that is about it!

A beautiful looking hotel. Very ornate inside. Friendly & helpful staff. Gorgeous pool and garden facility. Clean.

Our room was rather small and in the attic area. The bed was very hard & pillows lousy & also hard. As a traveller, little things like an iron facility in the room, coffe/ tea facility would be ideal.

We liked the look and the history of the hotel, it was a beautiful looking building, both on the outside and especially on the inside. We also liked the location which was on the lakeside but also close to the town centre and restaurants.

The thing we most disliked was the size of the room, we thought that it was too small concidering the amount we were paying for it.

The exterior of the hotel and the location are fine. Our room was spacious but was stale. The shower in the bathroom leaked into the hallway, the shutters to the terrace could not be raised or lowered and the area rugs had no backing and were a hazard. Most concerning was the failure of the hotel to perform requested wake up calls not once but twice--shortcomings of this character could be a disaster, particularly for travellers heading to the airport or train station. The a la carte menu in the restaurant is limited and overpriced and the food mediocre.

Gianpaolo at the front desk was exceptional! The staff was lovely and the hotel, although a little faded, is quite beautiful.

The architecture of the hotel, the services available, the rooms, the underground parking. Everythingh is really nice.

Considered the standing of the Hotel, they should work more on human resources. For example, it is not nice that staff knocks at the door at 8 am and than at 9 am just to check if it is possible to clean the rooom. In addition, the staff is used to discuss about its own mistakes or problems in public, again, this is not good for people that have direct contact with the customer.
