If you are looking for a modern recently refurbished 'minimalist' hotel then the Randolph is not for you, but if you want comfort and good service at a reasonable price in a central location, then you'll find the Randolph hard to beat.
Checked the rate with the hotel but found a better deal via 'Superbreak' as I found out they do a special deal worth 10% off the brochure price by using my HSBC credit card so only £140 including breakfast!
Oxford itself is lovely but the hotel is not worth the money.
Having stayed at this hotel twice now, it has the best location in Oxford which is obviously reflected in the price.
In a fantastic location, the proximity to the Ashmolean were perfect for visitors to the city and the room was fine - decor up to scratch.
All in All though a very pleasant stay and a great location for Oxford centre - certainly I didnt see anywhere else that I would have rather stayed nearby.
This was definitely the priciest hotel on my England, Paris, Ireland trip but also had the best location to what I wanted to see.
Location is excellent and allowing Oxford to be experienced on foot.
After waiting for almost 20 minutes outside we decided to walk to the station.
We found the standard room to be a good quality room with excellent bed linen and plenty of soft bath towels and robes.
The bedrooms were only of average size but along with a previous reviewer we were given a room at the back of the hotel where the bathroom suites were new.
The second room was beautiful, much bigger with a massive bed and a bigger bathroom.
Rooms rather small for the 5 star status our double bedroom did contain only a standard double sized bed which I have not seen for many years especially in 5 star hotel.
OK so we did have a bit of a walk to our room BUT it was spacious , with a great bathroom and an enormous bed.
Didn't eat in the restaurant except for breakfast which was very good with lots to choose from.
Somehow with a few pre-dinner drinks, parking, meal in restaurant/nightcap and breakfast we had managed to rack-up another £150 in charges on top of the room rate for a very unappealing experience.
Executive room was spacious, we took drinks in the cosy Morse bar and the restaurants they suggested were very good.
Morse bar was relaxing and comfortable, the restaurant staff were superb.
The full English breakfast and speciality breakfasts are served by the staff and are ordered from the menu.
Service was always with a smile, which made you feel right at home, the receptionist staff gave us a free upgrade to one of their executive rooms.
Very helpful reception staff and the young Concierge was very polite.
We had excellent service from the firendly and efficient staff on reception, the concierges were knowledgeable, the bar staff in the Morse Bar could mix a mean cocktail.
The reception, concierge and restaurant staff were less than convincing in their efforts to appear helpful.
Car parking is limited so make sure you prebook this prior to arrival but be warned it does cost £23 a night.
The Randolph has a fantastic location and whilst the car parking charges are high, it is a city centre location and you have confidence your vehicle is secure.
The booking appeared to suggest the inclusion of the sauna, gym and steam room but on arrival this was additional at?
The room looked nice enough and was clean and tidy.
The bathrooms are marble, and very clean.
The beds and bedlinen were excellent - incredibly comfortable, clean and well-arranged.
The Christmas Atmosphere was fantastic, being located in the new part of the building was very clean and functional, the bathroom was completed in a modern style.
The Hotel staff were attentive and polite, the food was excellent and our room was most comfortable and spotlessly clean.
