See review if your budget doesn't afford you Taj Rambagh Palace - as this was a wonderful boutique hotel and surprisingly good value.
The hotel is admittedly expensive, but one can't reasonably expect to stay at a place like this for the price of a Holiday Inn.
As we understood, the original royal family still owns the property and seeks to cover their ownership costs by licensing it to a hotel management company.
We were suitably pleased that this hotel cost less, but in our opinion, was a superior experience to the better hotels/resorts world wide.
This hotel was a great location - close to the walled city and the staff was amazing.
This hotel was a great location - close to the walled city, great atmosphere - with peacocks on the grounds at dawn, and gorgeous.
Won't say Jaipur was our favorite location on the trip (we enjoyed South India, Kerala and Tamil Nadu) but this hotel and a visit to the Amber Fort were not to be missed.
The best way to see Jaipur is in an auto ricksaw and even though they won't let them into the grounds,walk across the lawn, have a chat with the security guards and haggle for your transport at the gate.
There were, however, a few negatives - The room was large in size, but we were not given our bed preference for a king sized bed - but told we were upgraded to a room which had 2 queen beds instead.
The rooms are all well appointed and beds are very comfortable with extremely large bathrooms.
Our room was gorgeous -- incredibly comfortable beds, fine linens, beautiful bathroom.
On arrival we were upgraded to the Royal suite complete with four poster beds and a magnificent bathroom.
The bed in the first room was unbelievably hard.

Large plush bedrooms, the lovely Polo Bar and the food in every restaurant was fabulous.
Fabulous restaurants, bars, and a truly wonderful selection for the buffet breakfast - wonderful tropical fruit selection and anything else you may desire and a truly attentive helpful service staff.
We dined outdoors on the lawn one day at lunch time, ate in the Indian restaurant and the main restaurant for dinner.
Hotel staff were always very pleasant and helpful, service were fantastic, the room was beautiful and clean.

As Jaipur is know for food you get best, the spa is gorgeus as is the pool the gardens are amongst the most beautiful we saw in Rajhastan.
The fabulous pool/spa area and we boarded an air-conditioned taxi in the bright afternoon of 45 degree Celsius.
