  We stayed in a Premer room and it was outstanding. A very large bedroom/sitting room and a delightfully designed and set out bathroom with a private courtyard set outside the clear glass windows, very chic and spectacular as you walk in and see it. The dinning room particularly out side which is the only one I used is well set out and brings to life how the palaces must have looked in their hay day. The staff bend over backwards to be helpful and go to great lengths to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We made a small complaint to waiting of waiting half an hour for our toast at breakfast and got a signed card from all the dinning room staff apologising which made us feel a bit guilty, but goes to show the emphasis they place on service.

  The staff were fine and not arrogant a one of the reviews said. As soon we arrived in the afternoon we were presented with minty cold towels and a fresh pineapple juice, filled a from and were transferred to our room, the whole thing did not took more than 10 mins, the staff showed us the place and the activities that were held. The room was spacious, clean, with a nice four poster bed and a marvelous bathroom with a marble sunken bath and s shower stall. There was a big window in the bathroom overlooking your private garden, very nice. The rooms are scattered in a landscaped garden where every 4 rooms have their own entrance. Staff would burn some leaves at night to drive the mosquitoes away, that worked fine, we had an outdoor dinner in one of Rajvilas restaurants “excellent food” and was not bitten once considering the near by artificial lake and water walkways. The pool was fine as well as the SPA which was run by Banyan Tree.

  I liked the first one better (by far), although the room I was assigned at the Rajvilas was nicer. The service is OK, but after staying at a Taj Palace, you realize it could have been better (like the one at the Taj Rambagh Palace).

  Breakfast (charged separately) was weak and location was very isolated (miles from the city, taking a very bad road).

  I was very sick when I checked in and so my husband ordered room service that night - not good at all. The room itself was very nice, no complaints there, but the people at the complex lacked the enthusiasm and sheer joy that other locations exuded.

  Service at the (Average) pool was non-existent and the staff at front desk were for the most part surly. I understand that in the low season they often bring in temp staff, whilst the main ones take time off. That's a shame, as I know first hand just how marvellous the full time staff can be.

  Our room was magnificent and the sunken bath was a real delight even if it took an age to fill! The downside was the lack of an outside private space which we had in Agra and Ranthambore although the pool area was superb with enthusiastic and attentive staff.

  No meaningful apology was forthcoming a minor incident which the staff appeared to be unable to handle properly. Recompense was made by way of an upgrade in Udaipur but frankly we could have done without the scare and the need to deal with the incompetence of the Oberoi staff. In summary, Oberoi need to consider Health and Safety over aesthetics and immediately put into operation a crisis response training plan for their staff and management.

  We went to the dining room just for soup for my wife after which the waitress insisted that we have a little something for dessert - they had made a fantastic chocolate mousse cake with marzipan frosting. Even more amazing, the sous chef came to ask us how we liked the meal and my wife discussed how hard it was to get some of the spices used in the U. About 1 hour after we had returned to our room, the sous chef himself brought a beautiful box to our room with a collection of the spices used in the meal, each individually wrapped.

  We spent our anniversary at this hotel and had mentioned it to central reservations when booking just to see if they would do anything on their own - and, boy, did they. We had a small slice each and suggested that the rest be split with the staff. The hostess said no, they would send the cake back to our room where we should enjoy it. By the time we had taken a leisurely walk back, the cake had been set up on a beautifully decorated table in the room and the sunken tub had been partially filled with warm water and fresh rose petals were strewn on top of the water. If that wasn't enough, on the next night we were just about to leave for dinner when the doorbell rang and a hostess appeared to invite us (and drive us by golf cart) to the special dinner that we had previously canceled on a terrace overlooking a temple that was original to the property. Lit candles were set on each step up to the terrace, and we had our own two waiters and the hostess delivering each course by golf cart from the kitchen. My wife asked about recipes and 1/2 hour after we got back to the room, a compilation of recipes bound in red silk ribbon was delivered to our room.

  The premises were impeccable, service flawless and staff extremely friendly. We just took a day to unwind and spent the whole day at the spa (which is managed by Banayan Tree) and they were just superb. The following evening we went to Rambagh for dinner … the food was ok, service – not that great. The food at Rajvilas is a treat to the palate … loved the rooms and my favorite were the Luxury tents. They also have a Royal vila with an awesome private pool.

  The entrance to the hotel is very impressive, the arrangement of villas around attractive gardens full of peacocks and water features is very seductive, and the omni-present, smiling staff make you feel welcome and pampered. Paint was clearly peeling off the outside of outside of our villa, and the much vaunted bathroom, with it's sunken bath, was definitely beginning to show its age.

  We also found the restaurant somewhat disappointing - while the Indian food on the menu was executed competently enough, the western items consisted of poor-quality produce (in particular, the meat consisted chiefly of fat) ineptly prepared.

  The hotel complex was stunning, staff and service excellent. Really enjoyed lazying on the mattress beds around the pool - free water and suntan lotion a lovely touch. I also liked the idea that you don't tip the staff individually, but leave a tip for all the staff on check out.

  All the rooms and tents are spread out across the gardens but no guest has to walk longer than 5 minutes to the main house in which the restaurant and main reception is placed. All staff are very friendly, open and well trained to deliver the very best service. The swimming pool area is lovely and in front of the spa.

  Room service is charged at the same rate as at the restaurant and we made use of it a few times, never having to wait longer than 30 minutes.
