Room was rather small for the price with not very interesting view of the car park. Beds were very comfortable, but there was some early morning door banging in the corridor.

Power cut during the night left us without hot water the first morning.

        Staff was excellent, very helpfull

Yes I paid £100 for a room, there was no mini bar in the rooms, there was no toiletries in the room. I don't think it is worth the money, nothing different than premier inn.

I had a stunning corner room (115) with high ceilings, three windows and an extra long bed.

So why was the bath only 3/4 length?

faded opulence echoing late victorian/edwardian empire replaced to a large extent by the now traditional connection with the NH festival

ok no teapot no double bed (twin beds which did not fit together) hot water scaldingly hot breakfast table service not quite adequate

I am sorry to say that this hotel is living on rapidly fading glory from a bygon era. The location is superb but the interior is shabby and generally far below what is expected. Worn mats in reception, carpets throughout that would be appropriate in a rural guesthouse 40 years ago, no hot water in our washhand basin and no extractor fan in the windowless bathroom, and a crude plus in portable radio on the floor of the dining room providing muzak sum it all up. At c£220 for two nights and just one breakfast, it was certainly not value for money. The staff were excellent but the owners nend to invest a solid million or two, at the very least, to upgrade their offering.

Very good service from friendly staff in a classic old hotel..

Some of it does look a bit faded but really adds to the charm of the place. Facilities such as bathroom etc all modern.

Staff very helpfull and freindly, the hotel has a nice relaxed atmosphere and I enjoyed staying there and would like to stay again.

Having to pay £10.00 per night for parking I think that this should be included in the price.

The staff are unfailingly polite and try to be helpful. The mattresses are firm. The plumbing worked well, though the water is unpleasantly soft. The breakfast is very good and the dining room is airy and attractive.

As late arrivals, particularly ones paying a special rate, I was pretty sure we weren't going to get a wonderful room (though that can happen at the last minute, of course). Room 204, however, has a very large bed that makes it awkward for the person near the wall to get in and out, and also makes a small exercise in contortion out of using the bathroom. More importantly, the air conditioning didn't work, and though the (obviously frustrated) duty manager was able to provide a fan, he noted that 'everything's electronic now, done with laptops.' This may make the system cheaper to run and easier to 'service' (which he added had been done in the last 24 hours), but it doesn't do much for the hot and tired guest.

        Very comfy huge beds!

Terrible check in, staff hd no clue what was happening as there seemed to be several doscrepancies in what we had booked, from nights booked, class of room to weather we had paid! The receptionist was completely lacking in any charm what so ever! We were then allocated a key that opened the door to a room that was occupied by other guests! Our friends key didn't work! We finally managed to get the key re-cut and a room the did not come complete with other guests! We were going to a wedding the following day and booked a taxi to take us there which was ordered for an hour earlier, nobody even bothered to call pur room to advised us of this. The 1st we knew was when we showed up at reception to be told it wad been and gone! The bar was un staffed. Upon check out, our room had had £150 worth of other guests bills put on to ours, which we had to argue weren't ours. Along with £15 breakfast bill which should have been included in our room rate! We were lucky as we only returned from our trip less stressed than hoped. Our friends returned with a selection of bites from the hungry bed bugs! Lovely!

Location, In the centre of Cheltenham near shops and night life, room size and facilities, staff were helpfull and polite, bed was superb, overall a very nice experiance. Good breakfast and not bad value as there was a two for one offer.

Room backed onto and overlooked air conditioning plants, very noisy so unable to have window open, Food rather limited menu and very expensive, Breakfast £15:00 for instance.
