Editorial review:

The Prince is Melbourne’s best-known “design” hotel. The small lobby is appropriately dramatic and the rooms are a mix of the original pub’s proportions, natural materials and a pared-back aesthetic. The larger rooms and suites have key pieces of vintage modernist furniture. Onsite facilities are among the city’s most mentioned: Circa Restaurant, the Aurora day spa, bars, band rooms and even a wine shop downstairs. Be prepared for nightclub noise if you’re staying over a weekend.

Location- close to things to do and eat. Thestaff were extremely friendly- they peovided great servcie. The top deck was wonderful for late afternoon evening relaxation.

Price excessive for the room bc all other accommodation booked due to the Grand Prix. We had no idea when we booked that the Grand Prix was on- but we wanted to stay in St Kilda for access to family event. Even accounting for that, it was still poor value. The room was small, badly designed (deadly step up to the bed area- not good for those with dodgy ankles and aging eyesight), awkward set up for making cuppas. I thought the the dark wall paint & decore was comical- like walking into a ghost train at Luna Park. One object d'art looked just like snake poo. Too many steps for people with accessibility issues. Permanently grubby lift that jammed on several occassions, worn carpet, tired paint in some areas - they need to life their game or reduce their prices..

Nice hotel, but for the price I expected a larger room. One of the bars was closed however (maintenance), but that was not mentionned when I booked. Food is excellent, amazing breakast, super free Wi-fi, and 90% of the personal is very friendly. As always, there is still 10% who are not willing to help...

The restaurant had a lovely bright open feel to it and the food was good.

The shower had mould in it and I wouldn't say the staff were super friendly.

Rooms were very small, generally untidy, renovations being done very noisey, outdated and not good value for money. Rooms in particular very small and lacked anything special.

I loved the design.lighting in rooms, style, natural look, cleanliness, gift shampoos and lotion, everything available, the fact the aurora spa was in same building, the restaurant and breakfast was lovely.

When I walked in I found it too dark, when I walked to lift could barely see.

I really enjoyed the excellent friendly, can-do attitude of the staff. The room was well priced and had a lovely design feel. It was great to be able to utlilise such a wonderful bar/lounge area to meet friends and dine or drink high quality at reasonable prices. Very stylish and a lot of fun.

The bed wasn't particularly comfortable - be great to have had a good doona on bed and mattress was very sparten - probably suit boys who usually prefer harder beds.

The design was nice inside, location was good, walking distance from restaurants and bars. The restaurant was lovely for breakfast (Circa)

Parking was a pain - wasn't clear what to do with ticket upon parking, whether it was free or what to do, had to call hotel and find out - entrance to the hotel was secluded too. Rooms were very, very small - doors/windows old - meaning we could hear street cleaners at 7am and noise spillage between rooms (people stomping around above our room at 6am wasn't very pleasant). At 2.30am when we arrived back the room, the swipe cards wouldn't work. Inconvenient when you are tired!

Everything was great, including location, price, staff and the design of a hotel. I actually liked that it was like a compact version of a hotel, which meant that there would be less people and thus less noise.

At some times we had some insects in the night, they were quite large for an insect size and they were able to fly, which was quite annoying. The ventilation in the hotel was not very great as we could smell the smells from the kitchen in the evenings when we were about to go to sleep.
