  It is a $5-8 cab ride to oldtown PV or the Malecon (bars) and the bus is super conveinent as it stops right in front of the hotel and it is $0. Even though I am single and alone on this trip, a quiet hotel at night was nice. I did notice on the bulletin board that some people were trying to get rid of their suites that were around the 6th floor or lower.

  All the staff seemed older and the guest were too. I did not do much at the hotel except sleep, lay on the beach and use the pool a couple times.

  The staff are awesome, the pool and bar/restaurant are awesome but only if you like to sit at the bar in front of the ocean. As they do have a restaurante we like to sit right on the water so they set us up away from the restaurante and still served us. The resort is super clean and the staff go out of thier way to please. When we got back the front desk called and asked if she was okay. We have stayed at the bigger resorts and I can tell you the staff never said hi once.

  8 other friends (ages ranged from 23-30) and from the moment we stepped out of our taxis, we were greeted very warmly by the staff and the concierge. 1202 and 1203 which included one bed and a sofa bed in each room and that worked out perfectly for us. 10 minute bus ride which cost a mere 5 pesos (approximately 50 US cents) and Mismaloya was only about 6 miles from the hotel. 50-100 pesos depending on where you were going and always bargain with the taxi drivers as well. Puerto Vallarta numerous times and gave us wonderful tips on places to eat at, see and things to do.

  First the Good: At $100 per nite for a big 1 bedroom unit with a kitchen, I think it's a helluva deal. The staff was friendly and nice, the bartenders were good (good Margies), the 2 pools were great. The main pool is un-heated but it's perfect if you ask me, plenty warm. The other pool is a heated pool that was perfect the first 2 days we got there but then it seemed like someone turned up the heat because it got way too hot (like a giant hot tub).

  Now the Bad: the entire place has that "3rd world mildew" smell that I'm pretty sure is from the air conditioning.

• Next the hotel room smelled moldy and was generally very shabby. The bed was the worst of all and I'm still sore from sleeping on it. Oh, and the door to the room looked like it was previously broken into, and a very poor fix-it job by this so called hotel.

  Quality of staff is hit or miss, some people were engaging, friendly and nice while others were rude and amazingly slow. We had dinner in Cascada "their only restaurant" 3 nights two of the worst meals of my life and my wife spent the third night throwing up!

• Of course there were some staff that were great, but they were few and far between.

  The first night we arrived the room smelled pretty bad and it was blazing hot.

  But after arriving and getting such friendly attention from the staff, I admit my feelings were wrong about the resort. Our room was on the 13th fl which we had a wonderful view. The room was a little shabby but very clean and our housekeeper was great! We had fresh homemade guacomole at the resort for lunch and we had wonderful weather.

• We are owners of PDS and have always enjoyed our stay, of course having a 2 bdrm corner suite with a view of the pool and the coast line to the north might have something to do with it. Rooms are always clean and yes the beds are somewhat firm, I survive and the staff is friendly and will always go out of the way for friendly people. Food is really above average with breakfst being my favorite.
