Great island, fabulous views and the Pestana Grand Madiera is a beautifully appointed hotel in a lovely seaside location.
Nice seaside location, taxi's a quiet cheap so I'd recommend them and cable cars take you high up into the mountains.
A great location, the buses are very good and places to have a nice drink.
Excellent location - a one hour walk into Funchal - at medium walking pace and the hotel is well out of town - you need to take a bus or taxi.

The pool area was spacious and clean, the spa facilities at the hotel were great - my husband loved the sauna.

Leisure rooms spa libraryand prettyy grounds are all well maintained, possibly one of the best meals out i have ever eaten and the Pool is fantastic - very clean.
