Pavillon Winter Luxor - 樂蜀

The hotel as a great location in the middle of town,next to the luxor temple and "macs"!

However, the location was excellent and the view of the Nile was spectacular (although noisy due to traffic).

The facilities and location of the hotel are fantastic.

Forget the sightseeing trips the tour reps sell, go outside to Hani Bazar (right outside the hotel, by the road) & ask Mahmood to book a decent air-conditioned taxi for far less (e.

However be warned as soon as you walk out the door you hear "caleche" and "taxi".

Although, in my opinion, the rooms are due a 'freshen up', they are of a good size, adequately furnished, with a good sized bathroom (bath & shower) - hair dryer and plenty complementary toiletries provided, along with twice daily supply of towels.

Towels are changed twice a day and beds are made in the morning and turned down at night with flower petals and a chocolate placed on the bed.

After having a bath, all water was gone from the bath tub, and then quickly came out from different drainage in the bath room floor.

The reception rooms of the hotel very luxurious, the staff once again very helpfull and friendly, the beds were comfortable the bathroom was excellent.

The restaurant was good, we ate breakfast and some evening meals here, and we couldn't knock the service or food.

We were bed and breakfast, the food at breakfast was intense, what ever you felt like eating it was there, you start getting used to the 4 course breakfasts, the food is just lovely.

We were booked for bed and breakfast but did eat a couple of times in the New Winter Palace restaurant but it is like a canteen so we choose to eat out.

We ate in the Old Winter Palace 1886 restaurant twice and surprised how cheap it was compared to restaurants in England.

There are four restaurants to choose from if you stay in for lunch or evening meal/dinner, all serving very good, well priced food, with an extensive menu catering for all tastes at all of them.

Helpful staff at this hotel on the whole and the maid service is excellent.

At night meals were being served on the terrace, by the pool or in the garden depending on the theme, although we generally chose to eat out.

Wonderful garden and pool to sooth away the overdose of pharaonic Luxor and constant hassle on the streets.

We had requested a Nile view but on arrival we were told we were staying in a room facing the garden area and pool.

The rooms of the new winter palace are not the most modern or up to date rooms but they are very spacious and are very clean.
