The building seems to make a good effort, the rooms themselves are clean.
Location is brilliant and an overall good quality hotel at a fair price.
Reception staff abrupt/could have been more helpful, brand new bathroom and breakfast was good the bistro is just that - a bistro.

Getting there

Edinburgh International Airport is located about 12kmfrom the property.

By car: exit Edinburgh Airport. Join the A8 heading towards Edinburgh city centre. As you pass Haymarket Station and approach Princes Street, follow the left-hand filter signs on to the one-way system towards Queen Street. Turn right at the second set of traffic lights on to Queen Street and continue along to York Place. At the roundabout, turn right onto Leith Street, turn left at the third set of traffic lights on to Waterloo Place and turn left at Howies restaurant on to a cobbled street called Calton Hill. This brings you to the front entrance of the hotel.

Waverley Station is about 300m away.

From Waverley Bridge, head on to Princes Street and walk east towards the telescope-shaped monument on Calton Hill. Cross at the traffic lights on to Waterloo Place and continue along to Howie’s Restaurant on the left-hand side. At Howie’s, turn left on to Calton Hill and follow the cobbled street round to the entrance of the hotel.

The location just of princes st was great for shopping and sightseeing during the day, the bathroom was large for European hotels and was recently upgraded. The room was a lovely size and spotless.
