Compared to comparable places like Jupiter, Ace hotel and Mark Spencer, for price and value - the Park Lane Suites always wins.
Park Lane is a great value for tourist type travelers, the location is wonderful and the kitchen is better than most hotels.
Pluses include - Value: kitchenette, living area and separate bedroom for less than many hotels.
This little hotel is a secret gem, and a great value.
It has an excellent location, which was largely why we chose it--off Burnside very close to Washington Park and 23rd Street.
Front desk helpful and friendly and the location was terrific - close to the park (rose garden and Japanese garden), walking streets, Powells books - most everywhere a tourist would want to go, so it was perfect for us.
For us the location is terrific because we know someone who lives in apartments nearby, so when we go for a visit, it is a handy spot.
From the airport just take the Red Line MAX to the PGE stop.
The desk clerk on check in was extremely helpful with dining tips and directions on foot.
There is a nicely decorated living room with a TV, desk, and a sofa bed and also a bedroom with another TV (there are also some two bedroom suites).
The bathrooms are small, as are the beds (we were in a one bedroom suite) but the kitchenette and small living room area more than make up for it.
The beds (including the sofa bed in the living room) were comfortable.
The suites are typically one bedroom suites with kitchenettes and large living room area with pull out sofa beds.
The layout of the rooms was more like an apartment than a hotel room, with a small hallway separating the two bedrooms from the front room and kitchen, which gave us more space and privacy than most budget hotel rooms.
Both of these restaurants are owned/Chef by former coworkers of mine from Higgins Restaurant (one of Portland's best restaurants - also a REAL TREAT!
Close by were restaurants, shops and places to buy food.
The PGE stop of the MAX line was within walking distance, as was a supermarket, and lots of shops and restaurants on 23rd.
I could walk to many interesting shops and restaurants.
The free breakfast is minimal, but I stopped by the Fred Meyers grocery store and bought breakfast provisions for my stay and ate breakfast at my kitchen table.
The location is rather quiet, this place is a great value and the front desk staff are always helpful and friendly.

Car parking is tight but we found a space OK.
The free off street parking was definately a selling point since parking can be a bit of a nusance and an expense!
Parking is a problem in the NW23rd area and we were glad to leave the car behind.
The Park Lane has recently installed high-speed internet access.
The staff was friendly and the room was clean.
The rooms were clean, kitchenette were great.
Staff is very friendly and prompt, the rooms are spacious and clean, the free morning breakfast is coffee.
