Good location and a delightful Art Nouveau building has been modernised so as to provide maximum comfort retaining the feel of the Art Nouveau period.
I asked for a single room and had a double bed to myself.
The rooms are very good with a beautiful mirrored headboard in the shape of mountains above the beds.
I personally would have prefered a double bed but only singles are on offer.
I'm not sure why others say that the rooms only have single beds.
However, for such a grand hotel my room was a little disappointing.
Friendly staff, the breakfast was excellent.
The Front Conservantry/bar area is very plesant place to watch the world go by.
There was little emphasis on local cuisine.
Somewhere that offered a taste of the local cuisine perhaps.
The whole dining experience took generally around 2 1/2 hours for a 3 course meal.
The hotel is well situated and staff are friendly.
Service was slow and haphazard with several tables getting meals late and cold.
I'm certain that our experience of this hotel would have been better outside of the Xmas period and that the dining arrangements should improve as the season progresses since a lot of the staff were new and it was their first week of the season.
Given that we stayed as part of a coach tour and therefore had not paid full rate the service was good and the food was above average.
As others have said, the hotel staff are generally very helpful.
Especially those manning reception who are very knowlegeable about the area.
Disabled access to the upper floors is via a very small lift, Personally I used the stairs!
