Drink prices in the hotel are a little expensive but what the hell to be in such great surroundings.
Service and prices as you would expect from a 5 star hotel in the UK.
The food was really average and very overpriced (£8 for a very small jacket potato with tuna), the room was not what you would expect from a 5* hotel, and I booked in for a back massage, which ended up as 20 minutes of gentle stroking.
He offered to put us up at a nearby hotel (of a lower standard) and cover the costs and also offered us some 'VIP' tickets to the local events where famous stars were attending.
The rooms were great, the location and grounds were stunning and the food and service was just outstanding.
I agree that it's a very picturesque location for a wedding, but my experience wouldn't inspire me to entrust them with a special event of that importance!
Good location, positives: Lovely decor and the building looks great from the outside.
The weights area has all the necessary stations, including an assisted pullup, plus free weights up to about 40kg.
It has easy access to the local bus that took us to the city centre.
The room as you walked in had a sitting room with a large TV, Mini Bar and decanter of Port waiting for you, bypass that room and you are into the Bedroom area, where the bed was massive!
Our room was nice, if a little chintzy, with a comfy bed, TV, internet access and a reasonable sized bathroom (complete with Occitane toiletries).
Asked to move rooms when they tried to squeeze Z-bed in to already full room of cosy size.
Spent 1 night in a suite, absolutle opulance, bed and bathroom decor and seating areas wardrobes in abundance.
The room itself was well decorated/furnished and clean, although not huge and the bed was really comfy.
Food was great - fantastic breakfast and a choice of bar meals or restaurant.
Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant was also top class, with the evening meal made particularly romantic by the resident pianist.
The bar at night was comfortable, breakfast was very good in terms of choice and food was excellent - both dinner.
The restaurant for breakfast we found to be very busy and we had to wait in queue for 10 minutes to get hot food.
The room was beautiful and bar staff were excellent -Breakfast was excellent too.
The reception staff promptly gave us our room details and sent us off to our room.
Upon entering the opulent lobby, we were greeted warmly by both the butler and reception staff and were offered an early check-in.
First impressions were very good; long drive up to the hotel, lovely reception and public areas, friendly and helpful staff.
Staff, service, food and champagne all superb!
Breakfast is great, the pool/spa facilities are excellent.
Spa / swiiming pool complex also very nice.
The pool/spa area was nice, although was quite crowded on the Saturday afternoon.
We didn't feel that our room was worthy of 5*; the room was clean and tidy, but the decor looked tired, dated and unimaginitive, and was more like a 3* hotel.
The room was so clean, at breakfast there was a good range of choices on offer and the leisure facilities were excellent.
My sea bass was very tasty too, the staff were welcoming from the outset and the standard rooms were clean.
The rooms were perfect, clean and more than adequate.
Fantastic stay, service pleasant and the bedrooms were clean.
