Norfolk Hotel

The location is quite far away from the centre, but with the bus stop with lots of buses going by just in front of the hotel it was very easy to go to the centre.

Had I been more sure of the location I would have returned to my car and slept there.

I managed to get to the hotel fine, as it is located on Hagley Road, a short bus or taxi ride away from Birmingham City Centre.

Outside the hotel was also a bus stop which had regular buses into the main city of Birmingham every 10 minutes, the cost was £1.

My room was so old, my bed sheets were dirty, the toilet's taps were leaky, the shower hardly gave me water, tv was old etc etc.

My room was dimly lit, there were cigarette burns in the bedding, hairs on the bed and all over the tiny, cramped and dirty bathroom.

We were given a room with a double bed and a single bed in for two people, it was ok, but fairly old furniture, there were cobwebs on the ceiling and the curtains were old and the curtain track and pelmet had seen better days.

I opened the en suite bathroom to find barely enough room to get in, threadbare towels that probably would not dry the sweat off my forehead, and massive holes where the plumbing was evidently moved from.

My room was a single with a tiny bed, clean but old bedding.

The meals at the hotel's restaurant are delicious.

Breakfast was a do-it yourself affair, you had to do your own toast by putting it through a large toasting machine[twice]as once was not enough, and the hot food was never hot.

The breakfast was fantastic too, a excellent choice of cereals, tea and coffee, fruits, muffins, juices, toast and jam and a full English breakfast.

Found staff to be very friendly and breakfast was great.

We were in no way disapointed and were really impressed with the breakfast.

Overall when I stayed at the Norfolk It wasnt all that expensive so didnt feel like I had a bad service as the staff were nice and the ground floor rooms were great really.

Staff were pleasant but I wasn't impressed with the reception area and my unease was confirmed as soon as I got upstairs.

The staff at reception weren't at all helpful.

When speaking to the reception staff informed us they heard the car alarm going off but were not allowed to leave their desk eventhough they had a direct view of the car.

There was loads of car parking and patrols going around regularly.

There were three of us and two of us went up and then sent the lift down to pick up our friend and the luggage!

Also the lift broke, (I wasn't in it at the time luckily) and I had to traipse up stairs to the 3rd floor with very bad to non-existant lighting in the stairwell.

The outside of the hotel could do with some refurbishment, as could the bar area which looks a bit tired, but the dining room was clean, the cutlery absolutely sparkled and the table linen was spotless.

Room was clean, tidy and everything worked the way it should.

Our bedrooms were very clean, with all matching bedlinen and matching.

We had a really great expereince - all three rooms that we stayed in were clean and very comfortable.

Chipped and shabby decor, filthy carpets, bathroom in which I didn't want to wash - and bloodstains on the pillow (although the pillowcase was clean it was so old/cheap I could see through it to the stains!
