Grand Hotel Nastro Azzurro & Occhio Marino Resort

All in all this is a nice hotel if you don't want to be in the centre of Sorrento as the hotel is in a very relaxing location and the shuttle is certainly a plus point.

On arrival at the hotel, we instantly knew that the location alone sold it to us - yes, it IS out of town, but that was what we wanted - peace and quiet, and beautiful scenery all around.

The views are great and hotel is in a wonderful location in the hills above Sorrento.

As the Nastro is halfway between Sorrento and Positano it's not too expensive to get a taxi back.

The coutesy bus down to Sorrento is excellent, and we found our way around easily by public transport to Pompei, the Amalfi coast etc.

The room itself was excellent but the bathroom had a bath with shower but no shower curtain which meant the water went everywhee.

The rooms were cleaned daily, towels replaced regularly, large exceptionally comfortable double bed in ours.

We had a room (maybe the paintwork could do with freshening up) with a terrace (perhaps the furniture provided on the terrace could be renewed) and although we had an extra bed in the room for our daughter it was still a comfortable room.

We were in the block by the pool and the 4 poster bed took up the room, literally!

The upgraded room was OK although poorly lit and the bed was hard.

If you must go head for Anacapri as it is a little less busy as if you head off the beaten track there are little squares with nice bar/restaurants in.

Again the pool was old and dirty the food they served at lunch time was anything but Italian and of very poor quality, so much so that we never ate in the restaurant but delighted in the food served in the town.

Bar service was good, the best restaurant visited was Il Buco and the waiters were friendly and helpful.

All the facilities in the hotel were used for these guests, including the restaurant and terrace bar and the pool areas were out-of-bounds to the hotels other guests at these times.

The breakfast was alittle bit strange but the evening meal was fantastic, I would recommend staying half board, it only cost around £100 more for the week and it was worth every single penny (Cent).

The staff - mostly very friendly, cleaners, waiters in general were good reception staff could be a little aloof but ok when they get to know you and you get to know them.

I was on a last minute deal, but the reception staff upgrade me and my girlfriend in beautiful superior room with a view on the 2 bays (Sorrento and Amalfi coast).

We missed the evening meal but the reception staff arranged for a meal to be sent to our room at no extra cost.

Even though I stayed at peak time (first week of summer hols) there was always space around the pool area and quick service in the restaurant and at reception.

The terrace was nice and the towel service by the pool was also very useful.

We had a terrace that overlooked the area leading to the pool but nonetheless it was large enough to sunbathe on - our only trouble was the weather was a bit dire so no chance of that anyway!

The shuttle down to the down town area is fabulous, you have a relaxing ride with breathtaking views all the way.

Rooms are comfortable and clean, the breakfasts are fantastic.

The Hotel looked amazing illuminated up high in the hills, staff again very friendly and our room was quite spacious and clean.

Surroundings of hotel clean, attentive service and they fitted us into there luxury room.

The overall decor was adequate maybe a little dated, the staff was excellent and our rooms were comfortable and clean.

The hotel itself was beautifully furnished with attention to detail, clean and generous in size of rooms.
