The location and food was amazing but the menu was a bit limited and I think it might get a bit samey if you ate there every night.

It really does pay to decide what kind of room you want as they are dramatically different: not in terms of finish etc but simply in terms of location, views, and the resulting experience you willl have.

The private beach is small the tide is in, its location is also a problem : its a long way to Chaweng and basically the hotel was in top condition I think is not very old.

However there are some advantages to this: there is no foot traffic to pass the villas on the beach so they are extremely private.

For 400 baht you can arrange a R/T taxi into Chaweng and eat at EAT Sense on the beach which was fabulous.

The villas and rooms are well designed (the outdoor shower and day beds are great villa features) and are beautifully decorated with dark wood furniture and artwork.

Atmosphere calm, friendly staff and liked the VERY comfortable bed.

We liked the rooms and the huge bathrooms, but in particular the fact that we had our own balcony and outside area with dramatic sea and island views.

There was a huge attention to detail in everything, including the 'happy honeymoon' message made out of flowers on our bed when we arrived (sorry if that spoils the surprise!

Liked the VERY comfortable bed with crisp lovely sheets.

The evening dinner menus in both restaurants (the beach restaurant and the main restaurant) are both limited, expensive and dominated by French cuisine.

Breakfast was a great buffet viewing the ocean and lunch on the waterfront cafe was amazingly good given our previous experience at the main restaurant?

Dining is either a beach front, open, informal affair, which I would recommend over the restaurant (Thai/French), which is fairly pricey and foresakes the spice of Thai cuisine to accomodate less aware pallettes.

We tried several restaurants outside of Napasai but by the end of the holiday still agreed that the hotel restaurant was by far the best - a good choice of thoughtfully prepared Thai and very good French for those who tire of spicy chillies.

Both restaurants were exceptional, although I preferred the more relaxed Beachfront restaurant.

The only shortcomings we experienced were slow service at the French / Royal Thai restaurant, the lack of a gym equipment and unreliable internet services (it is debatable as to whether you actually require those last two while on holiday).

Uniquely of all the places we stayed inThailand, the Napasai made of point of saying that the 10% service charge was distributed to staff and there was no need to tip individual staff unless a particularly good service had been provided.

Additionally breakfasts were excellent - a very good quality, staff was fantastic and the receptionist didn't understand we were talking about.

There is a wondeful infinity pool which overlooks the sea, some equipment for water sports (the sea was too rough for them to be used), a fitness room and table tennis table/darts etc.

This was lovely especially as we sat by the pool and watched the pretty girls on the terrace above.

We had originally booked a garden villa with pool but were upgraded to a 2 bedroom private villa.

While there are several bars around the resort, there were seldom any patrons, except for people using the free wireless internet access.

The staff were incredibly friendly and polite, the rooms were huge and spotless (we stayed in a beachfront villa) and the swimming pool was great.

Napasai was just as wonderful as everyone has been saying, the staff were amazing and the room was kept immaculately clean.

The staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful, the rooms were huge and spotless, the French food we had was also excellent.

The little touches like the orchids on the pillow every night, the scented oil burners lit at sunset in the bathroom, the sorbets by the pool in the afternoon and the fresh fruit brought to our villa every afternoon made our holiday extra special.

A selection of fresh fruit was supplied in hte room everyday.
