Oh and its next to the streets with the highest high end shops in the city, so part of that $400/night is for location.

You cant beat the location its the centre of Venice next to St Marcs Square.

The Monaco's location is the reason to go (on the Grand Canal and right next to Harry's Bar).

At departure to airport, hotel will advise you to take the water taxi.

Lovely hotel - arrive by private water taxi up to the Hotel private landing stage from the airport - very expensive but worth it.

The room we had was not large but big enough for a King size bed and was ornately decorated with a big chandelier and walnut furnishings.

The rooms are not huge but are well appointed, good bathrooms, comfortable beds etc and really peaceful considering superb location so near to key sites.

The room was smaller than what the brochure indicated but very well kept and the bathroom made up for the lack of bedroom space.

Someone will come to turn your bed down for you in the evening and you can have your complimentary contiental breakfast brought to your room.

My room had a large marble bathrooms and this was very nice, The rest of the rooms was OK, nothing to luxurious.

Breakfast was wonderful but the staff was not overly accomidating and the bar/restaurant dinner staff were terribly snotty and made us feel uncomfortable for even trying to obtain a reservation.

Do venture away from the main tourist routes - we had our best meal and some superb wine in a tiny backstreet bar and restaurant - the husband and wife team were not high speed service but the food was worth any wait!

The Restaurant is a terrace facing the canal (Amazing) the bar is next door to the terrace and also is perfect.

Bar/Restaurant are very expensive for us poor americans, so we went somewhere else.

The terrace bar and restaurant overlooking the canal was like a movie setting.

Staff at the front desk were somewat rude and when I called to inquire about internet in the room the concierge just hug up so I had to go to the reception and collect a wire to connect to the net.

Service was generally excellent, especially the Concierge staff.

The staff was absolutely first class, and both the desk clerk and concierge helped us with dinner reservations, concerts, and water taxis.

The concierge who was to involved in his activites to assits the one receptionist then quicly became concerned about a departing guest.

Some others said they did not like the lobby but we really loved it.

If you have stayed at a "W" hotel and loved it, you will love this lobby.

The decor of the lobby and hotel in general is fabulous chic Architectural Digest material - current and tasteful.

We did not discover this problem until we returned at 1:00AM, our first night, and had to spend the next hour, while the belle hop tried to clear the toliet with a plunger, finally moving at 2:00AM to a room down the hall.
