  Managed to get a move to a room facing the bay on 26th floor and the views were of course amazing. Staff were friendly enough though I found that the restaurant staff were very obsessed with making sure they got the 'right' gratuity. We used the pool once as well and it was fine, though a little cold.

  The hotel interior looks a little dated (lobby, corridors etc. I was a bit annoyed that over the weekend they closed the club lounge (I'm a Marriott elite member so this provides me and my family with free breakfast/snacks).

• The lobby and front reception area is very clean and well cared for. Rooms: Rooms are very nice and I recommend you ask for a room with a balcony facing the cruise port.

  Some of the rooms have the strange entry configuration and the bathrooms are small for Marriott standards. I spoke to another guest in the elevator on the way up from the lobby and they said that they had pretty horrible service in the restaurant.

  Standing in the lobby some papers I was reviewing got wet. As a bonus, I had to re-start my computer three times. Asking for a drug store, the concierge sent me blocks away in a taxi, only to later find out that there is a pharmacy in the shopping area attached to the hotel. Used the laundry service, and got my underwear back squished into a ball, all rumpled and still damp.

• Clean room , upgraded bedding, with excellent view of the bay. We had booked with a special AAA rate of $130 per night, I can't imagine paying the online rate for this hotel, it was nice, but not up to the price listed for the room. The mall area between the Marriott and The Doubletree had several shops for items you may have forgotten and a nice deli/bakery. The front desk staff was exceptional in giving us info for visiting South Beach for dinner.

  Full Service Marriott in the middle of no where - if that is possible in a major city. But the closed down mall, lack of restaurants, no shopping make you feel silly being in Miami with nothing around.

  I upgraded to the suite room and was IMPRESSED! It was cloudy on that weekend but my pictures will show you the nice view you can get from the suites! Excellent shopping & dining beneath hotel! Parking at hotel is $19/day at their onsite garage. Cheaper than the valet service at Doubletree (next door) which is $24/day and garage across the street that is $20/day.

  Excellent choice, the room was clean and updated. We loved the comfortable king bed with the luxury linens. The portions where great, and the food was good.

  The only "issue" is that the elevators and escalators could use updating, but I never waited for a elevator because there are plenty.

  Additionally, the hotel restaurant was not accomodating to my diatary needs.

  I saw 2 my first night, one in the bathroom and one on the curtain not far from the bed. I had already been there all day so I was totally unpacked but I still insisted in swiching rooms. There was a roach in the closet 2 days after that, and the rest I saw in the bathroom. The only upsides were the gym, and that all of the rooms have terraces.

  The front lobby was decorated with class. The desk service was excellent and very helpful. We ask for a room with a view and they accommadated us with a room on the 24th floor over looking the bay. The room was large with feather bedding and pillows. The room was clean, nice furniture, refrig, nice size tv, and nice size bathroom. Side note: ask for a room away from the elevators because you can hear people come and go. There is a shuttle to Bayside Market Place and to the Port Of Miami.

  Their internet reservation system did not allow me to put my kids in a room without an adult. I was concerned that the front desk was going to give me an issue about it too and we would have to play the "key switch game". They even moved our rooms to be a little closer together. Our rooms were a little small, but they were clean and had lovely linens and comfy beds. Both of the rooms had a nice view, but the boys really scored with a view of the cruise ships. I enjoyed being able to sit out on my balcony and do my nails and watch people swimming in the pool while my husband took a quick nap. I can't remember what it was called, but it had a nice view of their marina and the food was passable hotel food. The bell manager was also greatly helpful in tracking down the suitcase that Continental had sent off to Denver or some such nonsense.

  I can't remember what my younger son ate, but he would have complained - loudly - if it had been bad.
