Meyrick Hotel Galway

The superb location just around the corner of the train station and hotel is well located.

The location in Eyre Square was excellent, the hotel was very accommodating and received excellant service from the night porter was pleasant.

Fantastic location, beautiful entrance/lobby, great breakfast.

Arrived at Galway Airport and took a short taxi ride to the lovely hotel in the centre of Galway.

A filthy window gave us a view of the parking area for the buses which serve the nearby bus station (the view didnt bother me but the state of the window did).

It had a very large bathroom with separate tub and shower, a large armoire, wonderful bed and a great seating area.

The beds were very comfortable, but it had only the comforter, no other blankets on the bed, but the room was warm, so that didn't matter much.

It was a large room with high ceilings, two large windows, a wonderfully comfortable king bed and beautiful furnishings.

The room was tiny, the bed cover was stained and the overall feel of the room was that it had not been updated since the 70s!

The rooms looked nice enough, but it was some time before the cigarette smoke in the bathroom of our supposedly non-smoking room made its way into our nostrils.

From the Conceirge to the restaurant and on to the Bar, on a recent visit to Galway we stayed at a nearby hotel to this one which has a quality marking of 4 stars and was not up to the same standard as this.

The hotel was renovated in the past year and this is immediately apparent when you enter - the foyer, bar and restaurant are beautifully decorated.

The restaurant was a little pricey but there are several restaurants nearby, namely Druid Lane, which is fantastic and reasonable priced.

We also ate at the restaurant which was average (I would liken the pasta dish to a Dolmio stir-in) apart from the fact that the waiter nudged my chair with his elbow and when I turned around he said "Will you move that?

The restaurant food and service was also great!

Reception is hidden away in the hotel and staff were very attentive.

Lovely decor, for the price 's pretty good and reception staff were friendly and helpfull.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the reception desk a little hidden however the porters were very on hand to direct us.

Next morning we took advantage of the gym and spa before heading off for the day.

There is a cocktail bar, spa and huge lobby.

The spa is absolutely fabulous - unfortunately the outdoor jacuzzi was also closed when we were there but the treatments are amazing and the indoor jacuzzi, massages, and hydro baths amazing - could easily pass a few hours there.
