Metropolitan Hotel Athens - 雅典

I liked the location of the hotel in a quiet neighborhood, away from downtown which can be very noisy.

The location is midway between athens and pireaus which is convenient but its not a touristic place.

Although the location of the hotel is a little outside the city centre its not a problem and is actually more desirable (ok yes its still noisy with a busy 4 lane highway to one side).

The nearest touristic area is new izmir square but in general taxis are cheap and you can take a taxi to athens or pireaus for less than 8 euros.

I pre-arranged with the hotel for a taxi to collect me from the airport, which they did efficiently and on time.

The second time I had a room with a single bed and it was a bit small.

Furthermore, I am allergic to feather pillows and upon informing the reception desk there were new pillows on the bed when we returned to our room later that day.

We booked the double bed room but actually got a king-sized bed after I made the request when I was booking them online through Booked.net.

The bathroom appeared to be clean but I noticed traces of dust in the room and suspect that the rooms are not dusted and vacuumed regularly since my sinus/allergies started to get aggravated a little.

Plush down comforters on the bed, granite countertops in the bathroom, nice wood work and details throughout.

Other than breakfast we never ate in the hotel although on our last evening we had a couple of drinks from the bar and got quite a shock when the bill arrived.

I only ate at the Hotel during breakfast, which was always busy, good food choice across the board, English/American & continental breakfast choices.

The staff in the restaurant and bar area were very much better.

The buffet breakfast was excellent with a great selection of hot and cold food.

The customer service is perhaps not quite what you may expect in other European cities but I quite liked that fact that you were left alone and didn't have waiting staff appearing at your table every 5 minutes.

Check in/out had few staff working the front desk & took some time for such a big hotel.

As for the staff - when i phoned for an iron and ironing board, the receptionist grunted at me and hung up!

Hotel seemed to cater more to the "business traveler", but the front desk staff was helpful at recommending area restaurants and giving advice on city attractions and how much a taxi would cost us to get there.

Small) Pool and sun roof terrace were good, if you get the weather, we didn’t!

Enjoying a nice cool dip in the pool on the 8th floor terrace overlooking all of Athens is spectacular as is having dinner with that view!

The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle bus between the hotel and the center of town.

One thing I found strange is that the house maids opened my room door at least three times in the morning to clean while I was still in the room!

The staff was friendly and helpful and we found the rooms very clean and comfortable.

The cozy rooms were very clean and comfortable.

The rooms are very clean and spacious with all the comforts one expects from top hotels.

Our room was spotless and although not large, it served the purpose of having somewhere to lay your head after a hectic, but wonderful, day in Athens.
