Metropole Hotel Riga - 里加

As far as the location of the hotel goes, you really cannot ask anymore from it - it's located to the south-east of most of the main attractions in the Old Town, in fact when I stayed here we didn't use the tram once and traveled everywhere by foot!

Great location and hotel was very close to the bus station.

A great location, bus stations Staff friendly and a very pleasant hotel stuff.

The hotel was easy to get to, we chose to take the bus from the airport which was far cheaper than a taxi, and very accessible.

Centrally located, both near central station, tram (stop 100m away from the hotel), bus stop from airport (take "22" and exit at "Stockmann" / Cinema), as well as near old town (which is not that large).

I wouldnt mind this normally but it was his attitude that got up my goat and then fact that we were paying a fair bit of money for the room and we get 2 of the worst beds ever and have to make up our own bed!

The room was excuisite, included a big living area (sofa, tv, dining table), a hallway to the bathroom and through to the bedroom.

When we arrived to the Metropole, we got to our room and there was only a double bed and a sofa bed (not made up).

Our room was super especially the well designed bathroom/wet room.

Had a spacious room with view to the railway station (means: front-side), nice bathroom.

Check-in was straight-forward and we were given our room keys, a number of vouchers offering discounts in the hotel bar/restaurant and informed about the opening hours of the hotel bar and when breakfast would be served.

Meals can be taken in the more formal restaurant section (linen-clothed tables and high-back chairs) or brought to the more relaxed bar area (very comfortable sofas, armchairs and low tables).

The breakfast - included when we booked the hotel, was lovely, with an array of Latvian cuisine cooked to perfection.

The food for lunch is great in the hotel restaurant (toasted ham sandwich and brocolli soup.

Lots of bars, restaurants, cafes near the hotel which provide good food at very good prices.

Service was friendly, some of the reception staff nicer than others, but overall it was good.

Luckily the reception staff were understanding and let me move rooms just for the night and leave my stuff in the first one.

The service was friendly and a real plus for the staff came when one of our company asked for some pancakes with chocolate and ice-cream - something that definitely wasn't on the menu.

Furthermore reasonable price, interior old-fashioned and elegant, good service.

Gym with sauna for free, and "business room" with facilities to check eMails (never tried this out).

There is a free internet in the business center and a small gym and sauna.

There is a business floor with a small gym and sauna for use by hotel guests.

The room was spacious, clean and faced the interior courtyard.

Staff always friendly, clean room and breakfasts were good as well.

Serviceswise, it was also good - the rooms were clean, and even though they were facing traffic and when we were here there was only 4 (!
