All said, I booked this hotel through Booked.net and got a very cheap price for Paris- if you're looking for value, its is worth the inconvenience of location for the $s saved.
It is not walking distance, but for the price it is a great hotel located close enough to get to the city.
The location is fantastic, just next to the hotel is a small sort of "mall and internet access free in lobby.
The location of the hotel is not that far from all the main city sights.
The location is good for business in La Defense, value for price is excellent.
The location is perfect for traveling, the buffet in the hotel is expensive and across the room to hang dry the laundry.
If it is your first time and you cannot speak any french, good luck to you, I think my husband who speaks no french would have been stuck, and this is a guy from NYC who is used to commuting taking the NYC subway and switching lines etc.
Not impressed with the room which was basic, stall smelling, no mini bar and had a tiny bathroom with difficult to operate taps (very minor change changed water from very hot to cool or visa versa).
The bed was comfortable and the TV actually had American movies to watch (for an extra 15 euro a day, but I didnt care because my company was paying).
My bed was so comfortable, breakfast was brilliant.
We had a tub/shower so the bathroom was a good size.
2 cycles so we finally gave up on dryer, strung clothesline/twine across the tub and across the room to hang dry the laundry.
There were plenty of restaurants and other places to eat in the surrounding area around the hotel and the breakfast and dinner served at the hotel were very good.
I ended up just eating croissants and pastries only for breakfast as nothing else looked good to me.
facilities : perfect and excellent breakfast.
Connected to a shopping center that had a supermarket.
All the metro lines that ran to all the sights near by, mercure was good value and staff was very nice.
Good house wines, low prices and the staff was SO friendly.
I liked view from my window, nice hotel and staff were very good and polite.
Free shuttle to and from la defence shopping center every 30 minutes.
Large directory book in lobby for tourists.
No free internet (instead a wired 5Euro per hour charge which is extortionate, however they did have wireless in the lobby and a token gesture 10 minute free internet terminal in the lobby.
In this day and age, at least paid for stay in hotels, internet should be wireless and free throughout in my opinion.
Our room was on the 8th floor, room was spacious and very clean.

Its a nice hotel, clean rooms and pastries only for breakfast as nothing else looked good to me.
The hotel room wasn't bad, was clean and had been refurbished.
