The location was downer as is situated quite well out of town and any hotel is only as good as its staff.

We were able to get a good price taxi to the airport from the hotel, the staff was great and room was very clean.

Just before arriving on the airport shuttle we heard a local describe the area as an "old part of town".

The room was cozy, the queen sized bed was very comfortable, and we appreciated having a refrigerator in the mini-bar.

My room could have looked better if there was a table lamp but the 'bed side' of the room looks quite like what it does on the hotel's website.

Bed was comfortable, the food was magnificent and use of large gym facilities was good.

We dined in the hotel restaurant called 'Dish' on our last night as were too tired to go out after visiting wineries all day.

The restaurant looked very nice but commitments elsewhere meant we did not eat there.

The prices were no more than your average restaurant in Wellington which was a lovely surprise.

The staff are all friendly and more than happy to call cabs/restaurants/tours, etc on your behalf.

As mentioned in another review, free entry to the gym beneath the hotel is included and at the time of our stay the pool and spa were just about to undergo renovation.

24 hour access to the pool/spa/exercise room was nice as was the very warm pool.

Easy to find the hotel and lobby looks great & stunning & high class.

In addition staff were so lovely, the bathroom was clean too.

Moreover staff very pleasant and helpful, clean rooms.

Typical Mercure Hotel - rooms comfortable, modern,clean but not a lot of storage space and more geared for a business traveller.
