Melia Puerto Vallarta - 巴亞爾塔港

It's in a nice location, close to the airport and there's always something to do.

Pros: very close to airport, peaceful, quiet location, walking distance to the marina.

I also liked the location of the resort which was only about 5 minutes from the airport and also close to the downtown and across the street from the marina area.

By the way, taxis are $15 from the airport to the hotel unless you get a white taxi across the bridge.

From the Airport the taxi ride drove off straight to Hotel Melia in the marina area.

Room: Polyester bed sheets, tired-looking bath towels, drinking glasses washed by the hotel maids and not sanitized in the hotel kitchen, no bedside tables on both sides of beds, no decent bedside reading lamps, old-model CRT televisions.

When we arrived at our room, we were greeted by rose petals in the shape of a heart on the bed and a bubble bath with rose petals in the tub, too.

The beds we found to be a bit to hard for us and when we mentioned this to the front desk they were more than happy to find us a new room with a softer bed.

When we checked in we had a room w/two double beds and even though I heard that they were completely sold out they were able to find us a room with a king bed.

If you want the best deal on a room ask for a junior suite, which is actually two full hotel rooms with two full baths.

There was dirt in the salad bar at the Mexican restaurant, egg shells in the omelet at breakfast and bone fragments in the burgers at the snack bar.

The Quetzal restaurant served breakfast for everyone and dinner for those without dinner reservations at one of the three specialty restaurants at the property.

Food: Breakfast and Lunch were very good, for a buffet restaurant.

On another note, the food was very good - Quetzal served a wonderful breakfast, the Palapa Grill served a great lunch and the 3 sit-down restaurants all had wonderful selections of food.

The food was good, but the lunch and breakfast buffets need to change their menu around, as well as the night snack bar.

The service was great - we never experienced rude housekeepers, front desk staff or waiters.

Upon arrival the security staff welcome you, take your bags for you and escort you to the front desk where you check in with the not always pleasant reception staff.

There is no concierge service and the people at the front desk were of no help when we asked questions.

The maid service was excellent, the way they finessed the towels into animals was crazy cool, and the staff was courteous from the bellhops to the restaurant employees.

The pool, garden and lobby area were all very pretty and well kept up.

We tipped regularly (usually just a dollar per round and 2-3 dollars at each meal) and that may have helped, but we were happy to do it and it usually meant that we were taken care of, especially by the waiters at the lobby bar and the pool bar.

The swimming pool was huge, they had two jacuzzi's in the pool but no jet flow to them.

When I got there, we were sent up to our room where it was very clean and tidy, but did have a unusual smell to the air but nothing that I couldn't handle.

When we returned to the room, the maid had been there and cleaned everything spotless - that late in the eveneing (5 hours after her original stop)!

Rooms: Definately ready for planned rehab although VERY clean and servicable.

Our room was nice, definately a 3 star room, but clean and taken care of.

Our room was spacious, sparkling clean and was often given extra little touches by the maid.
