  Food and drink are pricey compared to prices in Olbia itself - but I guess you expect that. The hotel is located in the middle of an industrial estate (but you wouldn't know that once you are inside because of the landscaping) and can be hard to find if you don't know the way ; this also means that if you want to go into town or elsewhere and drink (alcohol) you'll need to have a designated driver or take a taxi.

  We spent three weeks in a holiday apartment on the Northwest coast of Sardinia and stayed at the hotel only the very last night to have a short trip to the airport the next day. Since we paid only 90 Euro for two persons in a double room, breakfast included, we actually cannot complain; the regular rates quoted would be far too high.

  We found it ok by taking the public bus from the center of Olbia which is no problem at all. There's a public bus for a fee of 0,80 Euro every 30 to 45 minutes and it stops right in front of the main entrance so I don't understand the complains in other reviews. Then we took their shuttle to the airport - and off we went.

  We go there again & again because it's close to the costa smeralda beaches, and due to its incredible good value / quality on a Bed & Breakfast basis. First "pro" : A few basic infos about the location. Second "pro" : the rooms : all of them are top notch. They are not 5 stars "top design & furnitures" like the ones one may find at One&Only or Four seasons, but they really are modern, clean, with lot of space & beautifull baths. The maid service is great, with profesionnal attentions.

  Do NOT count on the gourmet restaurant because it has a poor choice, and unless you want to pay at least 60€/guest (we could count around 10 guests having dinner there, as an average, no more. And, yes, they've opened a third restaurant : a pool grill but it proposed only one poor set menu around 30 euros, so it was also completely deserted by guests.

  Our room was large and cleaned to a high standard the bed was huge and the most comfortable I ve ever slept in! Hotel staff very pleasant and helpful got shuttle bus to nearby beach laid on extra service for us. Out of main hotel complex obviously lots of building work going on hugh swimming pool and tennis courts not really advertised and seem to be used by italians only.

  The room I was allocated was very spacious, had a massive bathroom with separate shower, toilet and bath and was fitted with twin wash basins. The room was very clean, with fresh towels etc. The pool area was extremely large and easily accommodated all the guests, but see my note below in the "Ugly" section below.

  I booked the hotel on a B & B basis for two adults and one child, the rate was excellant via the Melia web site, but be aware they charged a supplement for an additional 12 year old child in the room! 00 on serveral occasions which led to a few calls to reception to try and get us an earlier slot in the day, this seemed to work.

  And in the restaurant, as well, all drinks are not included, and water will cost you 5 Euros/bottle.

  1) WATER: yes, I mean the drinking water. Better not in this hotel, even if you have half board treatment as we did. In fact, each 500ml bootle in your room will cost you 5 Euros. And they didnt bring it after I called the reception. 5) CLEANLINESS: if you go bare foot around in your room you'll end up with your feet completely black covered of dust.

  It seemed as if the room had been shut up for ever. I went back down to reception and refused to take this room but was told quite firmly that there were no more rooms available but I stood there until suddenly a non smoking room was found. The staff at reception were not always the most helpful and on our last day I was amazed to hear one member of staff arguing quite loudly with a guest! In fact it got worse when a large party of school football teams arrived and they went through the food on offer like a swarm of locusts.

  When we entered our room, the smell of stale tobacco smoke just hit you. Claire who is the English speaking customer service manager was ok as long as you had no complaints with the service, the food or with the room! The food was really quite bad the first week we were there as the hot food was cold when we arrived in the restaurant.

  Reception area very plush, although sofas starting to look a little tired, service at reception good, however we had trouble finding our room as it was the very last one in the building on the top floor. The room was excellent, very spacious, clean and had a very private balcony although no view. Bathroom excellent, two sinks, full size bath and power shower. Very friendly staff especially if you try and speak Italian. There is a bus service to Olbia but once there, there is not a lot to see, a morning or afternoon should let you see everything. The hotel pool was excellent, plenty of sunbeds, free towels and parasols.

  Pool is just fantastic. Rooms are very big and all have a nice balcony.

  Lobby has pc and free newspapers.
