  After sorting out our booking (after a bit of a mix-up on arrival),we were taken to our rooms which were spacious and extremely comfortable. The fact that La Mantra had a spa was of no particular interest to us and did not influence our choice of hotel. However, as it rained for the entire time we were there, we soon found ourselves checking out the various spa options as there was little else to do around the hotel. We were extremely impressed y the spa facilities which include a large jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and private therapy rooms. On the negative side the service - in general - was pretty ordinary.

  Restaurant staff were forgetful and/or slow and some of the reception staff were quite unimpressive.

  We had phone card problems and the hotel was not helpful. Our toilet made a loud screaching noice when flushed and they never came to fix it after two requests. On the plus side, great internet access both wireless and wired.

  The concierge guys were not all that helpful, they recommended places that were closed for the season. I tried to get change at the front desk and they made me go to the casino and then the casino said my change request was too much money.

  Unlike other 5 star properties, this hotel does not have a children's pool/area. Concierge and all the service was fantastic.

  A private beach you can walk to with ocean access; a lovely pool area; helpful staff; free internet; good restaurants. However, the room has nice and large with a nice balcony overlooking the pool.

  Mantra is by far the best hotel i have ever been to, i went to the cinema, the pools were excellent and the beach was ideally located near it!

  The service and help of the staff was exceptional. We have experience staying at the Four Season and Ritz-and the staff was just as accomodating. One night we sat on our porch and watched a run way show that was going on around the pool-it seemed the whole town was there watching it-everyone dressed nice. I think I used the pool more than I have used a pool anywhere else. The restuarant by the pool was also a great place to have a glass of wine and enjoy the sun.

  I really like this hotel: rooms, pool and overall facilities are really 5 stars. They also offer umbrellas, towels and other accomodations at the beach. The pool is great and the spa is very good. The outdoor pool is heated, so you can enjoy it everyday. I found the food to be very good, though the service was too slow. Generally speaking, service was very good, in my opinion, and I found the staff very helpful. Just as an example, Mantra offers a personal concierge for their guests. In my first visit, I was offered this service.

• We seemed to be the only people in the hotel but (perhaps for that reason) had excellent and friendly service and were upgraded into a palatial and beautiful suite. Nice pool and spa centre - and has its own full size cinema (with popcorn).

  Although the hotel has a shuttle to the beach, there is none to the town, so a cab is necessary unless you want to walk (which we did; nice walk).

  The lobby and lobby lounge are a disappointment - cold, not tastefully decorated, and look like the 80s. The front desk staff is not always the best - we arrived on a Saturday night, and no one asked if we wanted a copy of the newspaper delivered to our room. The computer room was often mobbed with children watching video movies, and on two mornings, there was no access to the Internet, although it did get fixed. The rooms are okay, but the place looks like an upgraded motel to me. We did self-service at the pool: got our own towels, put them on the lounge chairs.
